Houston... we've got a problem... Houston? Houston? ? ? ?

But earthcoin shows us at least one thing.
There is an "auction" for the next generation of bitcoin these days and many new coins compete for winning it. Bitcoin is too slow and expensive now. Expensivity doesnt matter but the slowness is annoying. 10 minutes is way high. The winner takes almost all. We miners and you buyers are the ones who will decide this battle.

There are many possibilities, the simplest but less innovative (but people dont prefer unknown innovations so there is a chance) is just an altcoin with 1 minute or less confirmation time. It gives to crypto enough new possibilities to spread up. Earthcoin is showing us that among many "altcoins" and "scamcoins" and "todaylaunchedtomorrowdied" coins is one important thing - professional promotion, design (earthcoins design is outstanding) and marketing. I  dont say earthcoin will necessary win, but the marketing and good public presentation IS way important and IS showing the way for all cryptos. Like doge showed us that you need to attract common people who are ignoring technical facts, they are ignoring how well is the coin developed, they ignore mining profitability, they just need to know about it, trust in it and get used it. However doge has one big negative - its name and meme, it helped him to be promoted but disqualifies him from being seriously taken and used.

Of course, very probable is that the ascendant of bitcoin will be some totally new project, like e. g. NXT or mastercoin, i personally think that to success they need to be built on old basements of bitcoin to be globally accepted (it has taken 4 years until bitcoin got VERY partially accepted by public).

And about earthcoin - i think there is a strong group behind, who knows well what they are doing and they may surprise us in next days. When we compare earthcoin to other currencies, their launch, their design, their presentation, then we must admit that most of them look ridiculous comparing them to earthcoin launch.

Not to be a downer, but this video has a lot of problems. I had higher expectations for earthcoin before seeing this video.

The "want to win some" that flashes up really cheapens the video.

The video markets it to merchants, however only shows sellers how to use the client. Is that what sellers want? Manual transaction processing and supporting users using the client? From a business owners perspective, the time spent just taking these transactions would make it a loss.

Where to get some? Pay exorbitant prices on eBay or get scammed on forums.

Why not just say "its hard to figure out and use for merchants and the average user, so we are gonna call it grasroots".

The video should have focused on good things. I dont think I heard any benefits, "its easier than we are making it look on this video", that's not a benefit.

That installation, didnt sound user friendly at all.
Why aren't we using a simple, idiot proof, installing wrapper? With desktop icons.

I expect them to not make videos that are essentially a marketing nightmare. There are nice things to focus on and get the word out.

Wallets will be updated, exchanges are comming.
And one of the main positive points, a transaction time of less then 1 minute was mentioned in the video.

Yes but without the premine how would they afford giveaways and bounties to make it big fast?

Or probably the nice Logo and website and stuff. You anti-premine people are dreamers. Expecting developers to work for nothing, promote the coin for nothing, create websites and such for nothing.

Yup, you probably dont know how much premined was and still probably is bitcoin (litecoin the same - there is an account still with 1 million LTCs). And these coins went popular and successfull. Some premined amount is just a motivation for developers. Without motivation and no reward = no work, no product, no success. Simple. I better support somebody who has any motivation than somebody who will work until he loses enthusiasm or good attitude. And the giveaway was awesome, 20k earthcoins for just few mouseclicks and keystrokes.

One sure thing what i may say is that the descendent of bitcoin will be premined in some way or at least will devs make profit just by knowing the next steps faster than general public.
