According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

well, idea and potential is good but

early adopters thing makes you wonder though, it gives control to number of people, isn't it?!

That's pretty much how PoS works. Early adopters invested some of their btcs with a high risk.

If I look closely all the pros/cons I think nxt got some good potential versus many of these original scrypto-mining altcoins.

What you guys think about Nextcoin...?

There is nothing inherently wrong with all the "other" coins besides Bitcoin, but Bitcoin has the HUGE advantage of being first to the market that became mainstream.  Until Bitcoin goes goes more mainstream these other currencies have no chance.

But as we've seen in the past, first to the market isn't always good!  See MySpace, Altavista, Netscape, etc.  Anyone remember those guys?! Wink

been browsing over the nxt coin topic for a while and the thing that impressed me most, is how commited to the cause people there are. That must show for potential i guess.

I took a gamble on it and so far it is paying off. Seems to be rising, but it also engenders a lot of hate so that is worrisome. Also there are a lot of big holders who can dump at any time.

Shows promise, but like everything is certain I would recommend putting a little money in just to test the waters, obviously u wont make the gains you would if you threw a lot in but less risk less reward obviously.
