Ukraine is preparing draft legislation to legalize cryptocurrencies, according to a post by a member of the Ukrainian Parliament

The document notes that the legislation aims to create a “free and transparent” digital asset market in Ukraine, outlining rules for storing, using, and exchanging cryptocurrencies, digital tokens, and smart contracts at a state, entity, and individual level. It proposes regulatory measures for preventing the use of crypto for money laundering, terrorist financing, and other criminal activities.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Cryptocurrencies regulation is a must and it's a good news. Seems that Ukraine and other European countries are trying to take the advantages of cryptocurrencies.
Compare the news we hear from European countries with the news we hear from Pakistan, India, China an some other countries.

This is very good news. Ukraine has recently sought to keep up with technology. I believe that the legalization of the cryptocurrency will help Ukraine get out of the difficult situation in which it is now. I always have a positive attitude when steps are being taken in some country to legalize the cryptocurrency.

Central Bank of Ukrain recently requested and advised the Ukrain government that proper regulatory measures for controlling crypto measures should be taken and clear cut regulations should be laid down.  So if some regulations are made then the bitcoin and other crypto will be legalized.  But it is matter of concern that how the government will be able to regulate crypto because the crypto transactions are mainly anonymous  in nature.  But yes the purchases of crypto using Banking channel can be regulated.
But it is welcome step if the crypto is legalized .

regulations are NOT needed

consumer protections ARE needed.
there is a difference

regulations let a business self police itself(bankers did not go to prison due to 2007 crises) and the business can do anything as long as the business snoops on its customers. = bad for average users

consumer protections police businesses and protects consumers.= good for averag users and good for moral/ethical businesses

in both cases if a business has certified for regulation or consumer protection.. then it validates them as "professional".
but regulation is not about helping the community its about adding bureaucracy without real protection. where as consumer protection does

i realy wish people would really push more for consumer protection certification rather than regulation

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.

This as the government Zimbabwe is preparing to try and stifle the industry. This is indeed excellent news for me and by all indications the Ukraine is serious  about legalizing the crypto because a draft has already been presented to their parliament . This is an indication that the crypto world cannot be ignored anymore by any Government because it has become a major player in the international financial market. I truly hope they are successful in their bid to pass this law as it will inspire others in that region to follow suit.

Good to see more countries embracing the blockchain, it is definitely the future so the earlier they get on board the bigger their advantage will be. Perhaps they will trade with Russia using crypto as relations between them have soured in recent years and blockchain is more transparent.

The fact that they are actually listening to their citizens or claiming to has to bode well for Ukraine and crypto enthusiasts alike. We can hardly expect every country to follow suit like this, but perhaps some will because of it and that will be a major win in my book. The last thing you want is regulation that is suited for 2014 while we are in 2018, you need up to date good laws to reflect the technology and I believe this will aid that.

That is good news for ukraine and its people. Countries that are friendly to the crypto ecosystem will benefit the most and will be on the forefront of the revolution. More countries should look up to ukraine

Very good news. maybe Ukraine itself is not the richest country and has not the best electrical equipment, but such news will allow many countries of the CIS to rethink the influence of the crypto currency on the world today and bring to the official recognition of such large countries as russia, Kazakhstan and so on.

For a country that's highly influenced by the Russians, I'm surprised that they are acting based on what they think is right and would benefit them in the long run without having to consult their mother Russia. It's about time that countries start drafting legislation for cryptocurrencies since it's spreading like wildfire. Even the normal citizens are wanting to take a piece of it, so they (the governments) need to make sure that their citizens know the bounds and legalities of trading and using crypto so as not to get scammed or use it for money laundering purposes.

"On the instructions of the National Security and Defense Council, the preparation of a concept for the regulation of the crypto-currency market is completed, and an interdepartmental working group with participation of financial market regulators and market participants is engaged in developing the concept that crypto-currencies will be recognized as one of the types of assets that are traded on the sites. The regulator of this market will be the National Commission on Securities and Stock Market "

I think this is great news for cryptocurrencies in general. If everything works out well and if the community see that their system is moving well without any huge issues, we will see many ICOs, Crypto exchanges moving to Ukraine! Furthermore, this would become a benchmark for other countries to implement their legislations and laws to support cryptocurrencies. I think mass adoption of cryptocurrencies is inevitable, it just takes time and patiences on all parties involved in this!

A new bill has been submitted to Ukrainian parliament which proposes to completely legalize all crypto transaction it also defines miners, cryptocurrency holders, the blockchain, exchange, and transactions. I think this news is funny because the news is coming out when Russia is seeing cryptocurrency closely.

The main issue I have with these government people is the believe that Crypto is mostly used for all these illegal activities, and there have beens tudies on these that shows that just 1% of these transactions are used for illegal activities. I won't expect much from them until it is passed and I see the content of the legislation

It's time to appreciate the efforts of these countries who have identified the tremendous potential of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Australia has introduced cryptocurrency to the primary grade students and now Ukraine is thinking on legalizing it. This step is going to prove beneficial not only for the crypto users but also the government because it will reduce the shadow usage resulting in an increase in efficiency of money. It is the time when other countries should follow this gesture of vision.

Totally agree with you, any country that legalizes cryptocurrency will definitely benefit from it in future. It's obvious that crypto has huge positive influence on most of modern industries.

This is just a very good step and action from the government of Ukraine, and this could be in the example by other countries of fear or concern in funding crypto for terrorists and money laundering.

Early last month, France and Russia have already legalized cryptocurrency and now its Ukraine so it seems one by one in europe country are making their moves to legislate cryptocurrency and it is always have a good intention of preventing bitcoin being used by criminal activities, and maybe they are also planning to tax all transaction, and also I am hoping that this will help to pump the market price.

After seeing the news of banning crypto BTC in some countries, got the name of Ukraine.  It is very revolutionary decision by them. I expect other countries will understand the value of this. And which have already banned, will rethink about this.

Government of Ukrain taking a brilliant step & legalizing bitcoin is great news for all of us. Because bitcon helps us many ways and this bitcoin will be the future currency so investing bitcoin is great for them who think about future. The government also thinks to control illegal trading which is good because with this coin you can buy anything most importantly anywhere.

This is a good news from Ukraine and the fact that the cryptocurrency adoption will be coming with a measure of regulations,  in order to curb money laundry and terrorism financing,  is worthy of emulation. Many European countries are cryptocurrency friendly and I hope some other countries taking similar step.

Legalizing bitcoin to a country may have conditions but as long as these conditions won't damage the essence of cryptocurrency then it is a big step forward for a certain country. This is a good news for Ukraine and let's just hope that regulations to be imposed on crypto would be fair enough for everyone.

I think it's a tremendous move if they can be consistent with the rules they make and in law. If they are committed, I'm sure crypto will be much improved. Preventing money laundering and preventing terrorist financing, it is a remarkable step.

I think it’s a great news for crypto currency. Ukraine wants to create a crypto currency trading in their country and it encourages other European countries also for licensing crypto currency.

The central bank of Ukraine has recommended the government to think about the crypto currency. They have urged for the rules and regulations to legalize the crypto currency in their country. This is mesmerizing news for the bitcoin users. We have seen that China has given list of public rating index exchanges for the 28 crypto currencies where bitcoin is in the first. So when the Ukraine will draft rules for the crypto currency, then several coins especially bitcoin will get legalization in that country

Legalization oof cryptocrrencies in a country is indeed a good news to every user. But we should always keep in mind that legality is not permanent and government can announce it illegal any time of day that is why as users, we should be as cautious as we can in using cryptos. Cryptos are not as useful if if it is illegal to use, you can store but never able to use it. We all know that the opportunity given by cryptocurrencies is a freedom but with definite high risk. Government security will always be needed.

Cryptocurrencies regulation is a must and it's a good news. Seems that Ukraine and other European countries are trying to take the advantages of cryptocurrencies.
Compare the news we hear from European countries with the news we hear from Pakistan, India, China an some other countries.
This is indeed a very good news that bitcoin has been legalised in one more country and I think this is all because of increasing faith of people on crypto currency. Bitcoin is very sustainable crypto currency and I think this currency will exist for coming many decades and I can promise that any country could legalise bitcoin if once they understand the potential of bitcoin that bitcoin is the key for boosting the development of any country and could reduce the poverty to very great extent.

This is indeed a very good news that one more country has been be into the bitcoins and now I personally think that if any country is legalising bitcoin and allowing bitcoin transactions to buy and sell things then it is only because they have understood well the real potential of bitcoin that bitcoin has that ability that it can boost up the development of any country and can reduce the poverty to a very great extent and could help in increasing the gdp of the country.

I wish many countries can make such a sense. It will be a big step in terms of both the future of the countries and the appreciation of the bitcoin. I speak on behalf of my own country that there is still such a negative attitude towards bitcoin that it is becoming increasingly difficult to do so.

Wow, great progress! A real step that needs to be respected. This gives the sense that the state of Ukraine is ready with the presence of crypto currency. Hmmm, a good move if Ukraine is as well as establish a law that becomes a package with this policy. This will certainly be an advancement for the crypto currency in the country. Its citizens will be protected by the law made. The law on the crime of crypto currency made will also encourage these citizens to make good and legal transactions.

Will this law work in Ukraine? More recently, in the winter there were special services raids on the head of Fork Logs magazine. The carriers were withdrawn and, miraculously, all of his savings were transferred somewhere. I do not think that this law will help Ukraine.

If the statement is officially revealed then it is agreeable, because in Ukraine there were serious discussion about the cryptocurrency usage. Now they putting forth developing their own cryptocurrency seems something different. Importantly if the country has adopted bitcoin, now the price could have jumped high same as that happened after the adoption of bitcoin by Japan.

Yep, you're right.
But people from our government are very cunning and self-serving. They are dragging out with decision-making because they have not figured out how to use all this with maximum benefit first of all for themselves.
Very many use bitcoin to hide their illegal income.
But sometimes it seems to me that they are all idiots, brcause in the blockchain everything can be checked.

Hah, I wonder how they are going to do that if Ukrainian governmental bodies still can't defeat corruption that penetrated in all spheres of everyday life.
According to statistics, around 40% of businesses in Ukraine are in the shadow, half of the salaries are paid in envelopes, and anti-corruption authorities are only generating scandals instead of doing some real job.
Okay, I'll be patiently waiting for the law to be adopted, and then we'll see..

Regulation is not needed indeed. It would break the real function of the Bitcoin, the anonymity and the decentralization. With the regulation, Bitcoin will be no longer anonymous and the government will impose taxes and other monetary imposes that would make it a source of corruption for the government.

Great! Their economy would boost a lot since they have legalized cryptocurrencies, I just hope that people would take advantage or that the government would make something out of the people who are making transactions and making payments in that case the government would also benefit from these cryptocurrencies especially bitcoin, best of luck to Ukraine and their economy.

this is good information, and I am more convinced that in the future crypto will replace fiat. and will spread rapidly to all countries. when Ukraine makes a regulation about crypto, then all problems will be easily solved.

I predict that in the future there will only be 2 transaction models.
1. global transactions with cryptocurrency only.
2. fiat and crypto transactions, but crypto is more dominant.

This is a good news. I think Ukraine will follow the pace of other European countries. In Europe, Germany, Britain, Switzerland, these countries are open, and Russia is trying to promote the legalization of the encrypted currency. Only the standardization of bitcoin can lead the community to advance faster.

On the contrary, Russia wants to control everything and everywhere, so I don't think that cryptocurrencies will be promoted here.
Russian political structure now is more of authoritarian, that's why all these decentralized things will be banned here (look what happened to Telegram in Russia a month ago).

this is a good news in the crypto world, at least this information will sure go viral and instill hope to the mind of the investor that there is still hope for cryptocurrency  especially bitcoin. Because by the time the government passes this into law and central bank of Ukraine started accepting crypto  this action will definitely give crypro an edge in the global market. On the one hand this is good news that the country is proclaiming that cryptocurrencies are legal.

On the other hand, we will have to see how much regulation they are going to impose. Some countries seem to be leaning toward too much regulation which could defeat the whole point of cryptocurrencies and could drive away some users and investors.

It's really great news, Ukraine has recently been associated with cryptocurrencys technology. I believe that the validation of cryptocurrency will result in the emergence of difficult situations in Ukraine, and the country will go forward faster by the economy and the financial condition of the people of the country will change. I think it will legalize the country day by day and it will turn into a very valuable currency.

Good news for the world of crypto. Not only Ukraine, even the media mentioned that South Korea also plans to pursue a path to legalize the initial coin offer (ICO), local news media reported May 29, citing government officials.

To me also, ICO reminds me of something like communism, when everyone who wants to withdraw money to create something new

I believe this is good news and legit as it is, Ukraine is taking a big step forward here, I sure do hope that the economy would grow more as they take on crypto and have legalized it, I just do hope he government would be able to take benefit from the crypto as it will definitely be a big help in their economy.

Ukraine is a leading light in adoption of future technology. This is a good news. It will motivate other countries to also adopt and give citizens freedom of choice of investment.

After the publication, extensive comments from Ukrainian readers have already been made to the draft legislative document, one of them touching on the proposal to regulate the ICO separately from other digital assets, on the grounds that "in the ICO environment fraud is widespread that has caused mistrust of the entire crypto world ".

It is necessary to wait for final result since from that as in a final form the law will look a lot of things depend.

If the Ukrainian government is "legalizing" their btcmarket there are two sides: Firstly it seems great and I do not want to negate that but secondly they will start to tax and oversee transactions of companies in their country which also could be a loss. Maybe the smaller one..

anybody including companies that aren't doing anything illegal don't mind their finances being reviewed and they don't mind paying their taxes so you can not call that a downside. it is only a downside for shady people who wanted to do something illegal.
besides the good part of it is a lot bigger. a legal currency as bitcoin is in countries such as Japan, means a lot more adoption and a lot more merchants freely accepting bitcoin payments.

Ukraine seems to be really interested in the potential of cryptocurrencies but I'm afraid that investors won't be attracted quickly due to its political situation. Ukraine citizens invest a lot of their money in crypto and I'm not surprised - it must be really profitable for them. Regulating crypto is important, especially for such small countries.

I think this is a positive step for bitcoin development. But when the government has legalized bitcoin, you must be prepared to accept all the rules.
Because it is impossible for them to do good without receiving a gift.

Ukraine keeps up with the times and it is right. Recently I read that Venezuela has also adopted a law on regulation. The most important thing is that it does not harm, but helps the residents of Ukraine.

We can hardly expect every country to follow suit like this, but perhaps some will because of it and that will be a major win in my book

Strange, how it can be, if Russia will ban and pursuit the crypto, and neighbours Ukraine will decide an opposite decision

Well, it's great! Respect Ukraine in the fact that it is in step with the times. It is high time to understand that soon we will be completely absorbed in the Internet life and it is convenient, practical and takes little time in the robot.

Totally agree with you, any country that legalizes cryptocurrency will definitely benefit from it in future. It's obvious that crypto has huge positive influence on most of modern industries.

These are great news for crypto and gradually, crypto will hit it target which is to be legalized globally. Cryptocurrencies have faced rejection by most governments and I think it is a good news that some countries have seen the potential in cryptocurrencies and are accepting it. Very soon crypto will be global and we will celebrate that.
