Thanks empoweoqwj !

Gary wrote it over the Xmas holidays and then tried it out on a couple of new Bitcoin users to tweak it.
The conversational style works very well I think.

Yes, apart from obviously knowing all the facts, which is a great start Smiley the conversational style works really well. Makes you want to read on ..... well done.

Confession: I use Electrum  Wink

That FAQ was something I had been meaning to write for some time so I'm glad it was able to help.

Great explanation!

Maybe we'll soon see a better one on *How to Check Digital Signatures*? I couldn't follow/use what you have for Linux at all! It made me really uncomfortable to download and install MultiBit without that. That on top of not having a PPA to use for installation and updates in the first place.

Actually I would have installed -qt again (because they have an official PPA), except for the now huge blockchain issue. I'd guess you have other 'reluctant MB users' like me, fighting through the discomfort of not being able thoroughly vet the files we install; and even more that just go with QT anyway, just because of that.

I've bookmarked it, so whenever anyone asks me to explain  what bitcoin is, instead of "mumbling" I can just send them to your page Smiley

So you don't have sha1sum installed and couldn't get openssl or gpg installed either? If you could expand on where it all started to fall apart for you then I'll be able to update the installation and verification guides accordingly. There is a "website issues" link for these kind of problems and I'd really like to ensure that the site delivers a secure and simple download experience.

Regarding the PPA, we'll look into that as an option for MultiBit HD (coming out as beta in Jan/Feb).
