This is exactly why you launch with wallet QTs ready to go.
Can't rely on any pools.
I can see why the OP put his faith in multipool, but they really screwed it up bad.

scryptminer.nl is working ok now for me. Still a lot of "new block detected", but an ok amount of accepts amid all of it. Hoping this will be The Blockchain so we're not sitting on a forker. For the curios ones, the difficulty is now already at 16, over 1600 blocks completed, and we're close to a total network hashrate of 1.4 gH/s.

moon.cryptopools.com is now stable... on port 3336. Do NOT use 3335 as it is overloaded.

It is so hilarious I think it is the best scam coin ever created. Multipool and Bitcointalk almost down because of this coin. Net hash goes to 12Ghs right after start, people knows it is scam but still mining like crazy. I wanna buy 1mil Mooncoin just for fun and to remember this launch. Just PM me!

This is a typical coin launch, it's always a massive disaster, it smooths out after a large amount of people give up and go back to other coins...

1) Multipool was up before the source was posted.
2) Multipool had 2 addresses, they took turns working on and off for the first 15 minutes.
3) There were 90 blocks when I compiled the source and synced.
There is nothing here to indicate a scam to me.
However, the launch is a mess for a few reasons:
1) Pre-announcing the coin means there will be a ton of pools and a lot of problems
2) Counting on one pool to be set up ahead of time as a way of being a "fair start" just means there's only one pool to DDOS for others to gain an advantage.
3) Hyping this coin up yet starting with such a low difficulty leads to problems.
Also, stop announcing coins ahead of time when all you have is a name.
Thanks for the reasonable analysis. Your points are all well taken, but what I will say is a success in all of this is that the blockchain did not fork!
