I am quite interested in cryptocurrencies, but many of the more popular ones (ie bitcoin) are far too expensive for me to really get all that involved with.  I would love to get involved with (and mining!) some of the brand new cryptocurrencies, but am not sure how to find them/get involved.  Any suggestions?

next to btc & ltc i trade peercoins (ppc), namecoins (nmc) and some worldcoins (wdc). I'm mining Earthcoins (eac) and dimecoins (dime). OK, dime might be a junk (too much premined), but it's easy to mine - until now. I see dimecoin as pump/dump/disappear coin.

earthcoins (eac) just entered the trading markets and got a good chance to rise very soon. They also seem to take things serious.

dimecoin has no trading market yet.

Good luck

Edit: Beware from dogecoins! Total scam coin that is already in disappear progress. Only retards and noobs trade that scam

Betacoin (BET) is doing very well. One of the best SHA coins out there.

Ach you always forgot about power of internet.
Dogecoin after spectacular lunch have its 5mins in allmost all media.
Newcomers came to cryptocurency and even they have have some
Doges.Digital gaming market is worth more that market cap of Doge.
Once some PC games will accept micro transactions with Doge Coin on top
market of MMO's and other Digital goods is rising all the time Doge is good opportunity to promote
new digital shops. Doge make adversimet by itself.
Others are jealous about its success.
About disappear there is many Doges generating evry day its inpossible to hold its price due to not enought emand so far
but IMO we have more chance that that coin will succeed that other in some terms of use.
Digital games shops, MMOs market of it is growing every day and Doge perfect suits to this market.
If some big players will buy many of Doge at the end of mining phase hmm about half year and Doges would be 70% mined out then.
If i were CEO of bigt company i should wait till that coin will be on bottom then i would bought as many i can and the i will open Doge market or
something connected with it.
One day you will be able to buy steam games, pay micro transactions in MMOs with it.
Doge more suits to that much more that Bitcoin even Litecoin.
Then the best part is that you are jung you are using Doges when you will be older which coin you will chose hmm.

I like DogeCoin(social, fun) and Catcoin(fun opposite to Doge), AnonCoin (anominity, tor), Peercoin(POS), Zetacoin(fast transaction coin and not beeing 98% premined like quark), Primecoin (scientific coin) and Litecoin (1st scrypt coin).

Frozen because it was basically a rerelease of Quark with fewer coins and slower mining.

Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=366762.0

Looks like it will be on coinedup soon: http://www.reddit.com/r/FrozenCoin/comments/1tx8rf/need_a_few_fz_to_run_exchange_tests/

I've been mining Casino Coin because it has a clear market for it and has held a steady value as opposed to many of the other coins which fluctuate rapidly. Though that may change if a major casino picks it up.

Mine CasinoCoin with the CasinoCoin Slashers, daily backups, fast transactions, block finder rewards, secured server!

Cat Coin. Nice to see a coin that wasn't premined whatsoever, and has the difficulty and circulation of Bitcoin but based on Scrypt. Very vanilla coin but much welcome and solid coin compared to many other high volume/high premined coins.

NETcoin because it has a great community and a nice casino which i got quite a profit from. difficulty is not that high still. the only altcoin i have that is steadily increasing in value. i keep some other ones but if i should suggest one its NET. If i would mine i would try to on one of the newer ones swell and get on the hype but i think most new coins will decrease in value pretty fast unless tehy are unique. can't say anyone is atm.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and tips!  I'm having fun learning more about the different coints.

Thing is - there are so many of them popping up!

What do you think that a crypto needs to do in order to truly stand out from the crowd?  Is there a market gap that is not being met by currently existing coins?
