Huh.... Not to rain on anyone's parade here but incase you didn't know, buying stocks and trading on the stock market is "HARAM" , if you have a muslim coder im suprised he don't know that stuff, and im not even muslim.I cant see devout muslims jumping at this for those reasons, so it makes me wonder what true benefits this coin will bring to the table. I may be wrong, and i hope i am...but it is a sort of "gambling" weather its mined or paid for stocks.... again, sorry for being "that guy"  ....im not sayin im not gona mine this tho  Wink

it you dont speculate too much, according to a most scholars, it should be halal.

most companies owhed or co-owned by muslims ARE RATED ON THE STOCK MARKET (eg. CITI).

http://spa.qibla.com/issue_view.asp?HD=1&ID=375&CATE=43

"In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

To invest in the share of a particular company or to purchase shares a company’s from the stock market has been a matter of debate between the contemporary scholars.

Some contemporary scholars (who are very few) are of the opinion that it is not permissible to invest in shares. There basic argument is that, shares do not represent an ownership for the share-holder in the company’s assets, rather the share certificate is a document that signifies lending of some amount of cash to a particular company. The dividend which one receives will be considered interest (riba), thus unlawful.

The majority of the scholars, however, do not agree with this opinion. Scholars such as, Shaykh Ali al-Khafif, Dr. Wahba al-Zuhaili, Shaykh Taqi Usmani and others have declared investing in the shares of companies lawful (halal) subject to certain conditions."

With the tens of millions of muslims working away from home and sending money back - this would be a perfect money transfer coin, if the developers can earn the trust.

If anyone wants a ton of media attention they should just make an altcoin that features a depiction of muhammad as the logo
