some promises to future:
1) earthcoin (because fast transactions + marketing - marketing is not important for geeks but the most important for business)
2) scrypt-jane coins in general (hard to say which one wil succeed, quickquickcoin maybe, but its name should be better, velocitycoin - the same problem) - because if there will be ASIC for scrypt, updating to scrypt-jane to fuck off ASIC owners will be necessary + scrypt-jane coins are very fast

hating and wishing the worst: NXT (no mining, buying coins = pure amway scheme to promote it only because you have money in but the real profit is making the owner of network, not you)

In Pump and Dump we trust.

anyone who wanted could have helped to kickstart the project and no one owns the network.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

I think the litecoin has the greatest potential for growth in 2014.

Heres why...
As mining winds down for bitcoin, ltc is the new profitable coin to mine.
The promise of new exchanges with higher volume trades is looming.
Litecoin has faster confirmations and provides 4 times the quantity than btc.
The Lee brothers have connections with btcchina and coinbase
Has been doubling in value every few months, value staying resilient, not crashing
Litecoin is clearly the second alt coin after bitcoin, it has ridden the wave to >$20

Litecoin is untainted with btc's Silk Road dark side.

I foresee a jump to $50 - $100 range in 2014, by my conservative estimates.

Other coins I see with promise...
Peercoin, by virtue of being 3rd in market cap (non pre-mined), having proof of stake,
XRP, innovative with trusted gateway concept, ripple price inching up...
MSC, special bitcoin using exodus protocol for financial trading, 10k per msc one day?
DOGE, coin based on a meme, fun coin, less than $500 for a million
EAC, last coin to buy for less than a penny in top 20 market cap list.

Good luck to you all in the new year.

% wise I think EAC provided the community and development team continues to deliver.

Price target for EAC over the next 2 years is $1 - $5 per coin

The average sub-second transaction rate + market cap + design/marketing makes it attractive at the right time as crypto enters the mainstream lexicon.

Plus it has a name that can be taken seriously by investors and vendors.

Not really coins, but the DAC's from PTS. I guess eMunie, if it's truly a successful PoS.

I'd like to see coins that have a purpose of ideal usage in the form of services, products and true creativity. Not meme coins and spam coins....

+1 for NXT

Most potential of any coin out there.

Bitcoin and derivatives Achilles heel is the dreaded 51% attack:

Is Anyone Else Concerned About Ghash.io?

That is a very alarming read.

Datacoin

It is by far the best because it is the only alt coin to provide a new function… uncensorable storage

Where will you store your wallet for all these other coins? Datacoin block chain

Where will a whistleblower publish important information for the public? Datacoin block chain

Where will torrents be hosted? Datacoin block chain

edit: the developer is also working on "personal chains" which are coins on top of the initial block chain.  no other coin will have this
