Worldcoin / Digitalcoin / NXT / eMunie

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

eMunie
NETcoin
Earthcoin

Litecoin will always be No2 unless innovation or community kicks BTC off the top spot!

Zero maybe but still a few months away from launch I believe!

I've lost faith in NXT.  It's near impossible for any newcomer that doesn't buy a ton load of NXT (like 10BTC worth) to forge coins.  It only seems to sustain early investors or people willing to buy a lot of NXT.

WorldCoin will take over this year big time. Now if you have spare BitCoins, I would suggest to start hoarding them.
I am in long position with WDC (=having more them than I need to become rich when WDC hits its equilibrium price of 37 000 USD - actually I am too rich then).   Grin Cool
Even the decimals of WDC counts. There will be a day when people are paying serious dollars on mWDC. Now it is excellent time for the smart money to prepare for these days by buying the cheap WDC.

By the way, if the price goes much lower I am considering going "ultra-long".
Now we are every moment closer the momentum of the Coin skyrocketing.

Real contenders 2014 are Litecoin, Quark, Mega, Worldcoin, Zetacoin and Sexcoin. Ripple is not an altcoin but more of a service.

I would say Quark!

Quark at the end of the day is a community coin that is definitely a threat to people that have power in the Bitcoin community. Quark has seriously been through a lot of attacks and smacks. If everyone would just take a minute and think for a second why Quark is constantly bashed. You would realize the people bashing it is the people that holds power in Bitcoin. Who are the people with power and influence?  The people that are able to effectively farm Bitcoin and have the influence and money to attack a coin that is truly accessible to the average person. Once people figure this out and why Quark was CPU mined and why such short mining period. You will understand why Quark is such a threat to those in power.

Kittehcoin.

That thing is very hated right now.  I prefer to bet against market sentiment.  The original dev fired himself and new team is taking over.  You can buy them for about 1 Satoshi now too.

BTC and LTC are rather obvious.
I would add WDC
and 2 coins in my sig.
All those have great chances to increase your ROI in long term view.

are any coins other than bitcoin used to trade or buy things or services with?
I only know one that merchants in some numbers are starting to accept and that is litecoin all the other altcoins still have a long way to go before they become a currency so far they just here for speculation and tulipmania comes to mind, especially with some of those coines that can not even be mined

and ow yes everybody here just spamming the coin(s) they own

I know about 3 shops with Doge.
