I understand that the community has rules and I will abide by them, but I don't understand why a post speculating alt coins must be moved to the alt coins subforum? I mean speculation is speculation wether or not I'm speculating Bitcoin. I think this has to change. When I first got into Bitcoin I would search the speculation subforum to get info about Bitcoin, people will do the same looking for speculation about alt coins too! When you throw all alt coin threads in the chamber of secrets it becomes a mess to search the subforum and sift through hundreds of threads and find information on a specific coin. I wouldn't care If I was speculating sexcoin or junkcoin, speculation is speculation. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Mods are weird like that.

I once made a post offering BTC for LTC in the Currency Exchange forum and it too was moved to an Altcoin subforum...

Mods gonna mod.

This is bitcointalk.org and speculation about alt-coins (not directly related to how they impact bitcoin) belong in the alt-coin section.

This post here belongs in "Meta."

Remember, you said to do this. You're wrong. This is a Bitcoin forum. See: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=385275.0

Well shouldn't it be called "bitcoin speculation" and alt coins have a subforum called "alt speculation". Or you guys should just get rid off alt-coin subforums all together and launch altcointalk... 😒

Speculation, I think, should include altcoins by default, since ultimately they are all tied to the price of Bitcoin.

Every exchange offers altcoins at rates of $/Altcoin or BTC/Altcoin.

Speculation should cover all coins for this reason.

It's a bitcoin forum, didn't think we had to specify discussion should be centered around bitcoin.

Give the mod a break. When you have to read so many posts and threads, there would be some mistake.  Smiley

Not sure if you were trying to be funny, but I was just saying if this is the case:

This is bitcointalk.org and speculation about alt-coins (not directly related to how they impact bitcoin) belong in the alt-coin section.

Then:

Shouldn't it be called "bitcoin speculation" and alt coins have a subforum called "alt speculation". Or you guys should just get rid off alt-coin subforums all together and launch altcointalk... 😒

It's a bitcoin forum, we have no interest in making altcoin forums. Alt currencies board was made as an alternative to just deleting them. I'd be okay with just removing it, at this point it's just seeing who can spam the most giveaways or whatever in order to pump their coin.

This. There were no alt coins when the forums were created, so thats pretty good reason for not having the boards specific. It is a rather simple system though, this is a Bitcoin forum (Bitcointalk) the Altcoin section is as Badbear said, a place to place the altcoin topics so that they don't disrupt bitcoin conversation that isn't the trash can.

A very large portion of Bitcoin users don't like Alt Coins as it is, so having an Alt Coin section isn't a bad compromise. It would be preferable if we could get some general subforums in the Alt Coin section, however what we have is better than nothing.

The goal of alt coin section is to allow a bit of alt coin conversation as long as it stays in its own section. It is preferable that each coin establishes its own forums for full range.

I moved your thread. If I allowed altcoins, I think the forum would be disproportionately swamped by them.

Also, apart from it being listed in the Guidelines:

You can try here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0

but yes, essentially, this is Bitcointalk. Alt Coin conversation doesn't have full range here, they have full range on their own forums and limited accessibility here.

You should go to the litecoin forums and act all indignant about them moving bitcoin posts to off topic too. Such bias and arrogance, ugh.

Internet famous on twitter, sweet.

Ha. I'm sure the mods would enjoy having something to do over there. Most altcoin forums are dead. I can see why people like this one so much.

Honestly bitcointalk is the best forum for discussion about any cryptocurrency. Alt-coiners love this forum too.
