Byron please dont think im trying to interfere. I know you're busy getting things sorted, but a landing page with a breif whats happened and links to here and twitter would be good.

So what I am thinking is that any missing accounts should be recreated and can be credited based on the deposits/withdrawals since the wallets store each accounts unique id with each address and transaction. Which means I will bring the site back up with limited functionality while I write a script to parse all wallets. The script will work on a secondary copy of the data and once everything is verified we will switch to the altered database.

Byron please let us know who at microsoft is responsible for not taking care of you.
I really don't take kindly to anyone or a  corporation trying to screw people or it's customers over.
If my accounts lost some coins I will accept it since your exchange has been very supportive of listing Photon and the other blake coins.
I suggest you persue whatever solution is best for the long term success of the exchange and preservation of most customers funds.

Some action may have to be taken against who is deemed the parties responsible for this eventually.

switch off the exchange and deal with base. I at the exchange had about 200 dollars, and now shows 300+, but at the exchange there was money in other coins - BLC and UMO.

My brother having about USD $21,000 at exchange.  He telling he not worried - Byron will be recovering info.  But thinking Microsoft not giving rats behind towards customers and disappearing data not professional hosting.

surely u have to pay coins back to everybody doesnt matter if its ms fault or not - customers/users only care to have coins not whos responsible
also exchange should have daily backups so u should have copy of db before ms fucked it.

I agree.
it is strange that there is no such copying of a database.

I think you need to create a new account. The database backup seems to be from the 6th. From Byron, above:
Are you serious? D:
I just registered less than a week ago and transfered some btc to make some trades... What can I do now? Registering again? (I tried and couldn't) I can find the blockchain, but this kind of things shouldn't happen :S.

Maybe Back-up is a better name?

I just logged onto my AT account for the first time since Friday evening. What a weekend you've been having, ByronP! I'm so sorry Sad

It looks like you are on the right track in solving it--building a script to rebuild everyone's balances using the block chain data. One update that will be very helpful (both here and on Twitter) is an ETA on when that process will be complete. Then we can know what to expect.

The main thing I've been doing over the past two weeks is chatting, so accumulating ATP, and collecting the tiny payments from my ATP holdings (which are not super significant). I don't know if you have a way to restore ATP balances or not. A few days ago, someone in chat tipped me 0.009 ATP, so it's a bummer to "lose" that. I know, not much in the grand scheme of things, but it was my very first tip here.

And whatever else happens, I would encourage backups that are more than monthly. I think several times a day is a minimum, considering how much coins move around--it is an exchange. But that's for the future.

Anyway, my two cents. Hope it helps. Really sorry this happened to you (and to us).

of course in hindsight it is easy to say things could have been backed up better, but who expects their cloud provider to delete all your data including your daily backups on all 6 (maybe more?) redundancies which are geographically distributed?
