btw.. op says he

"can run at 765Kh/s per card at 1.2V if I lower mem to 1500 and engine to 1100"

any idea what will be the total power draw at wall then..

My approximate quess is 1600W-1650W

I don't have a meter on my rig atm.  I'll shut it down over the weekend to gather specifics at both voltages and post here.

i have a feeling your right.. is the power draw lower for the 280x oc.. if it is.. will 5 cards be supported by 1500W

Sry to be harping on this but i have a tendency of having a bad circumstances with electricity and i have images of shocking my home into ashes if i were to monkey with a dual psu build...

Btw 1500W is pretty much the highest Watt PSU i can find around here... no LEPa/ENERMAX... sigh.. also no add2psu

Interested in your total watt usage as well. When I saw your topic last week I pre-ordered 4 Toxics, but then started doubting if I could run 4 of them on the 1200W Corsair PSU that I already had, after reading the heavy load usage figures in several reviews. Eventually went for 4 x Dual-X, only got 2 installed at the moment because I'm waiting for my riser cables, pulling 615W at the moment for the system getting 750kh/s on each card. Seems I'll safely make it under the 1200W anyway.

Based on my rig readings with a 90% efficent PSU.

4x 280x @ 1080/1500 1125mv = 1190W from the wall. 750-755khs per card.
4x 280x @ 1030/1500 1075mv = 1050W from the wall. 715-720khs per card.
4x 280x @ 1000/1500 1037mv= 970W from  the wall. 695-705khs per card.

I assume he runs 800khs per card @ around 1160/1800 1120-1125mv. This should pull approximately 1550-1650w from the wall.

Nice post. I'm running on 3 x 280x dual-x now, waiting for the last riser cable. Pulling 929W @ 1080/1500 at 750kh/s per card. At these clocks you say 1125mv. This is undervolted? What are the stock voltages? Is this through cgminer config or done with Trixx?

When I check the three cards, card 1 is @ 1200 VDDC, card 2 @ 1163 VDDC and card 3 @ 1150 VDDC. How can there be a difference with 3 of the same cards?

Also, when I check GPU-Z, card 1 is @ 1.038V VDDC, card 2 is @ 1.013V VDDC and card 3 @ 1.044V VDDC. What explains the difference compared to Trixx?

I did try to undervolt the cards the first day I set it up, while running @ 1080/1500. Tried to undervolt them a little bit down from 1163 and 1150, but the AMD driver would almost instantly crash. Is this normal?

I'm just wondering if it is definitely possible to undervolt while running @ 1080/1500, because I do like the hash rates.

Hey.
CPUz can give false reading some times. But often its pretty accurate. Most AMD reference disain cards have around 1.16-1.2v vddc as stock voltage. This varies due ASIC quality. Lower asic cards can not run as low volts as high asic cards.
For example my lowest asic card is 64.2%. This can barely run 1000mhz @ 1042mv. If i clock it to 1005mhz, it will fail after few hours of mining. My highest asic card on same PC can run 1020mhz @ 1037mv stable.
So if you want to do very accurate undervolting then you have to make custom bios for each card separately or as alternitive you can use MSI AB too, if you uncheck the option which syncronizes settings for all cards.
Hopefully this answers your question.

BTW. I have not bothered to undervolt every card separately on my mining machines. They all run above settings. One machine runs 1000/1500 @ 1042mv because low asic quality cards in it.

how were you able to get all the gpu's it seems everywhere I look for cards they have a max of 1/customer

I have access to 8x SAPPHIRE R9 280X TOXIC OC 3GB DDR5 384-bit cards. 4 of them I want to keep for myself, but other 4 I can't afford to buy. If someone is interested I will be able to get them for him. Europe preffered and I think europe only since I know nothing about import taxes etc there.

OK. This is riddiculus price. for 6000PLN i can get 6 cards locally. Not Toxic versions but for it doesnt matter. They all produce the same hash per watt.

Depends really, it is less than 360 euro... I would be really, really interested if You can get me non-toxics for 1000 PLN per one. MSI or gigabyte ones are for 1400PLN here..

If you do some research and contact your shops or dealers by email, you may get them at this price.
I bought my Gigabyte 280x OC versions with 249€ a week ago. And VTX 280x cards with 224€ a month ago.

and that sucks so much... Can't get anything here at NORMAL price...

BTW, I've received a reply from the "toxic dealer" He said he can go down in SAPPHIRE R9 280X TOXIC price to 1300 PLN, but only when I buy 25+ cards(up to 34)... And the shipment would be in 3-5 days... Sad

I'll guess I'll have to pay full price then :/

Hey man, i have 3 of those cards in a similar rig.  I can't seem to get above 550.  Can you share your cgminer start line with us?

Thanks!

n00b here... can someone school me up real fast on PCI-e slots and mining?

• Are all multi-GPU setups implementing ether Crossfire or SIL?

• Does every slot need to be 16x? It seems 1x to 16x risers are being use in some setups.

• If not, is there a theoretical limit on the number of GPUs I can add to a board?
