With the adult industry being a billion-dollar moneymaker, we should be happy about this. Wider adoption is a plus, even if critics could bash BTC for being a gateway to porn/sin/whatever's against the church and good family values.

Church might be opposing porn on the outside. But it is no secret that in the US, the people who spend the most on porn are ultra-conservative Christians. The state of Utah is having the maximum per capita spending on porn for the last few years.

Consider this, we are the beehive state for a reason.
Casascius coins, in what state were they manufactured?

Individuals in my state(utah) simply have more leisure money, and no legalized prostitution/gambling.
Our cost of living is less, our earning potential is usually reflective of our industrious nature.

My suggestion for individuals in the other states, stop being so lazy and poorly educated.

lol.... I didn't wanted to sound offensive. If the Utahns are having more leisure money to spend, then good for them.  Grin

Utah, Look at the nickname.

Without porn, rape would rise
I doubt it.
Child porn is illegal, yet the majority of rape is not against children.
Corrupt individuals will always exist, porn tends to create more corrupt individuals.
Porn gets people to see the opposite gender as nothing more than a tool for satisfaction.
I suspect the majority of rapists are frequent viewers of pornography.

US Bureau of Economic Analysis - Per Capita Personal Disposable Income 2012

Utah's Per Capita DPI: $32,069 (82.2% of US Average)
Utah's rank: 46 out of 50

Missouri Economic Research and Information Center - Cost of Living Data - Q3 2013

Utah's Cost of Living Index: 91.1 (91.1% of US Average)

So, they're buying all of the porn because of all of this "leisure money" they have? It looks like the average Utah resident has less than the average American, even if you factor in cost of living differences.

Incidentally, Utah's lead in porn consumption is pretty huge. I'm sure repression/religion have nothing to do with it. Here's a recent study.

Clearly your illiterate, for that reason you will be ignored.
I mentioned gambling being illegal here.
In many other states much leisure money is lost to gambling/legalized prostitution, as where utah has illegalized the most addictive vices.

Spending money to scratch lotto scratchers or spending on porn,
I don't care for porn but it seems like the more logical choice to me.
EDIT: Based off the number of bitcoin gambling sites around, I guess I am the minority in this opinion.

These are false statements based on ignorance and propaganda and should not be promoted.

  • “Without porn, rape would rise” bitpop

  • “If single and lonely people don't get enough porn, then they will start raping vulnerable women.” bryant.coleman

Allow me to further respond to your previous post:

You (bryant.coleman) say “I don't agree with my views” – none of it, not even my view that “Crypto currency should be making the world a better place” or “The porn industry does great harm to the women involved.” or “Many are traumatized, oppressed, abused, and hooked on illegal drugs” or “Male and female porn actors die all of the time from AIDS, drug overdoses, suicides, etc.” or “These women are precious and deserve to be loved just as much as you do” I could go on … If you don't agree with any of these views, you either ignorant or unprincipled.

Take Note:

You then justify your statement “I don't agree with my views” with false deductions.

Nowhere did I say to drive the sex industry underground or even ban porn.

Nowhere did I mention to ban Marijuana – I consider marijuana as a medicine which is legal in Colorado. I’m referring to destructive drugs such as crack, cocaine, crystal meth etc.
I did say “The porn industry is fuelled by its consumers - they and their money drive this destructive business - and hence the damage done to these women can be partly attributed to the consumers as well as the producers”

Hereby I am implying that spending bitcoin on the sex industry is not always a good thing – there are consequences.

We as the consumer have a choice and we should exercise that choice in a considerate, mature and sensible manner.

I'm all for freedom and free choice.

Hope this helps to clarify.

When it comes to bigger picture issues like these, people struggle to see.
Perhaps someone should make a documentary showing the harsher side the porn industry.

I like your post, insightful, to the point, good work.

What is the matter with your username? Are you really a priest?

There are hundreds of documentaries made by ultra-conservative Christians against porn. Go and watch them. And don't watch porn if you don't want. But what other people want to watch, it is solely their choice. Don't needlessly interfere in other people's private lives. Sometimes, it can result in retaliations.

As somebody who has a shit ton of porn on their hard drive I deeply resent that statement and will continue to all my life, it's pathetic, it's the equivalent of calling all Bitcoin users terrorists and to be frank because I have a high sex drive porn is what helps me keep pretty mellow around women most of the time. If I didn't have to do my masturbating by hand I'd probably be happy single so I'm pretty grateful to the porn and adult sex toy industry for feeding male perversions Tongue.

It's just a simple fact that pornography and sex toys are what's going to help keep us men focused on something else so we can communicate with girls normally, I'd like to see how long you'd last without pornography frankly if you didn't have a wife or a girlfriend and if you're seriously going to tell me you don't masturbate you're a liar or a prude, or perhaps a robot.

Fixed that for you because it will definitely cause retaliations if it's porn lol.

If you pay by credit cards it costs you currently $1 but if you attempt to pay it in BTC it costs $15. WTF

Exchange btc/usd, transfer to payment system in my signature and they give you a virtual or plastic Mastercard.

Reason doesn't work with people who are blinded with religiosity. Don't want to post much about it, but I am still sure that everyone here has heard about the Spanish inquisitions and other contributions from them.  Grin

I said the majority of rapists are likely frequent viewers of porn, not frequent viewers of porn are always rapists.

Before you go retaliating, perhaps you should learn to read/comprehend English.

Japan, which has the highest per capita spending on porn, has some of the lowest rape rates in the entire world.

On the other hand, South Africa, where the access to internet and porn is minimal, the rape rate is among the highest.
