@ neutrinox The hundreds of others do not have the technological and monetary backing as NSA does.

@cr1776 No, Bitcoin was not mentioned in the article, but quantum computing would have a massive impact on all kinds of encryption, including Bitcoin.

Interesting article. Thank you.

Something else I thought of while reading that article:
The article says that the bitcoins would have to be moved from the old address to a new one to prevent the bitcoins from being stolen.
That would be very interesting as it would identify "active" bitcoins, and any bitcoins not moved could be "safely" considered as lost.

Imagine seeing Satoshi's bitcoins moving to a new address. That would create some press.

Except there would be no way to know if the old address had been moved or stolen (seeing as the old address would supposedly for easily stolen)

no mention of bitcoin

Why would it mention bitcoin specifically when there are thousands of uses for encryption? Do you want the article to list them all  Wink

of course they are working on that. seems that the EU and switzerland are further in the research of that technology. but it will take years do reach that goal.

Why post an article in the Press forum that doesn't even mention bitcoin? There are thousands of topics that are related in some way to bitcoin. Do you really want to see them all here even if they don't even mention bitcoin?

Should we post articles about credit cards? prepaid debit cards? gold? silver? platinum? the dollar? the euro? the yen? 人民币? the Federal Reserve? the ECB? graphics cards? CPUs? semiconductors? Intel? AMD? the stock market? the bond market? ETFs? forex trading? the internet? the history of the internet? the history of money? economics? Austrian economics? Keynesian economics? Hayek? Mises? Banks? checking accounts? ACH? Investing? Retiring? Millionaires? Billionaires? taxes? monetary policy? fraud? money laundering? the FBI? FinCEN? Treasury Department? Ben Bernanke? Janet Yellen? quantitative easing? tapering? Goldman Sachs? JP Morgan? Morgan Stanley? Citigroup?

Don't articles like those and quantum computing belong in other forums?
