I have issued a ticket at MtGox (http://support.mtgox.com/tickets/10612):

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Probably is related to the exchange putting into production support for additional trading markets.  For example:

Noticed the same thing.  One of my bots saw that the price had fallen to $5 and change this morning and placed some pretty stupid orders because of it..

After some incidents MtGox has optimized service requests by introducing a ticket system. I hope they will add a possibility divide between customer help requests and alerts about something that goes wrong.
