it came on Simpsons as a small note but getting a movie for it is too difficult (maybe a documentary but a Hollywood movie?). there might be a movie closely related to BTC's though, The SilkRoad one  Shocked

I dont know about bitcoin appearing in a major motion picture but I am aware of a feature film with a multimillion dollar budget that in the next few weeks is releasing their movie by selling it on their website and allowing the buyer to purchase the film using bitcoin.

Bitcoin was already in a crime show. It was just a few lines but it was mentioned in Almost Human. Episode was about people who needed new hearts and were getting extorted for artificial ones. One woman was using BTC to make her payments and had a mobile wallet in her sock.

I'm not sure if they'll get many mentions in films coming out this year, but maybe 2015.

Not really a movie, but IMHO, The Big Bang Theory would be a fitting place for a Bitcoin mention.

House of Cards would be a great venue. All it takes it a Bitmillionaire to pay someone over at Netflix or the director.

They have multiple directors for the show...

But as another user pointed out, if it were to be mentioned or play a role in a film's plot, my money's on a crime/thriller film.

Indeed, 2 years is a long time in Bitcoin.  We'd just had the New Year's surge, suggesting an end to the great bear market.  Neither the Bitcoin Foundation nor SatoshiDice even existed.

As I understand it, many viewers thought that Bitcoin had been made up by the script writers.

Not long. It's already appeared in the TV show "The Good Wife," it's written into some fiction, and there's been that weird mention in The Simpsons. As a technology, Bitcoin is exotic enough to be taken up in weblit and other venues (like my Black Hat Magick) and therefore it's likely to be cloned or at least obliquely referenced in a movie within the next year or two.

Semi-popular technologies are good for rapid-cycle edge of your seat shows, and I can totally see Bitcoin appearing in any financial or even detective story. I'm surprised it hasn't bled into a procedural crime drama yet. Next step is appearing in a movie. It's just a matter of time at the recognition it's gotten in 2013.

Such a great video.

So many correlations to Bitcoin.

We are on the verge of something huge.  No doubt.
