What is this forum's policy about discussing illegal topics, such as strategies about laundering and mixing coins, bypassing restrictions on large financial transactions or international transactions, or strategies for hiding wealth and avoiding taxes on capital gains? I would like to discuss some ideas, but I do not know if I am allowed to.
This topic sounds like it applies to Bitcoin Legal thread, but I wish to discuss it from the topic of avoiding support for local government and political party, from the dissent and opposition idea.

Illegal in the country of the person who is posting or illegal in some country in the world?

Why laundering and mixing coins is illegal and where?

From my perspective tax evasion is a form of protest, bypassing restrictions on large financial transactions or international transactions is just a technological challenge and bitcoin addresses it.

Interesting question, I'd like an input from theymos on that
I'd guess that what is not allowed is what is illegal in the country of the server

Own address: 19QkqAza7BHFTuoz9N8UQkryP4E9jHo4N3 - Pywallet support: 1AQDfx22pKGgXnUZFL1e4UKos3QqvRzNh5 - Bitcointalk++ script support: 1Pxeccscj1ygseTdSV1qUqQCanp2B2NMM2
Pywallet: instructions. Encrypted wallet support, export/import keys/addresses, backup wallets, export/import CSV data from/into wallet, merge wallets, delete/import addresses and transactions, recover altcoins sent to bitcoin addresses, sign/verify messages and files with Bitcoin addresses, recover deleted wallets, etc.

If it is legal in your jurisdiction you are fine to discuss it. I know that is the rule for goods/services like drugs, prostitution, etc. I'm not entirely sure about laundering and such. I know it is discussed here, but most of the time it is "hypothetical". Even if it is allowed, if you do plan on said activities you are probably best off not posting openly in the forums anything that could get you in trouble where you are at.

Illegal in any country. Mixing coins is illegal because it is technically laundering. If you earn money illegally, like from Silk Road, or in real world and convert it to bitcoin, then mix bitcoin and convert to dollars, that is technically money laundering. I am mainly interested in discussion for how to keep money secret and hidden. Such involves mixing, anonymity, and not reporting foreign income, foreign wealth, or capital gains. Ideas for how to hide bitcoin and still be able to spend it without being caught would be nice, but I do not know if this would be allowed.

Keep it "hypothetical" Smiley

If you're not admitting to doing it and only throwing ideas around... hopefully theymos would be OK with that.

But it would be better if he responded.

Keep in mind that openly sharing your knowledge regarding these matters can render it useless if too many people start using it (especially if you decide to be very specific).

I would prefer strategies that will work independently, well enough to make it impossible for government to find out and stop. Not strategies like "keep your money in this persons bank, because we can trust him no to report," after which the person is found out and arrested. For example, how to buy through exchange without being noticed, how to buy food and sleeping place without converting bitcoin into bank money, how to trade without trade being noticed and needed to be reported by business. We have many libertarians and anarchists on this board. I am sure they have many strategies for how to evade taxes without being caught.

Later on, maybe such strategies will help with project I am working on.

Well, from my perspective, mixing coins is a form of privacy because the blockchain is public and if you want to keep your crypto finances private you need to use such methods.

When it comes to laundering money from illegal activities, maybe a car wash station. Cheesy

I'd suggest this, but it's not a very good idea discussing laundering practices in public any way.
