If you listened to the NPR audio from the other day, you'll hear Bruce state that that $25,000 wasn't his.

Oh, I see... Well, this brings up a question.

Did he lie to NPR, or did he lie to all of us? Bruce Wagner's own words on this forum after mybitcoin disappeared:

Quote
Actually, Ed & I are only ONE account holder.   We had 25,000+ Bitcoin in only one of our accounts -- the largest one of about a dozen accounts we had there.

Read the whole post at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34617.msg431056#msg431056 if you want to.

Which implies that at least a lot of that is his own bitcoins. Honestly, though, if it was someone ELSE'S bitcoins entrusted to him that he lost that's even worse. It means someone trusted him, and he simply fobbed it off to someone else instead of trying to be the one to secure and handle the coins.

I generally wouldn't refer to a shared account as 'mine',  but to explicitly say it's not yours when asked, I guess you could call lying by omission.

The show provides a highly visible counterpoint to claims that Bitcoin is for shady businesses. It also provides a great platform for bitcoin service providers to present themselves to the bitcoin community.

(Although I really didn't understand the episode where he had two interviewees with faces hidden. It just seemed to be a live version of some lame forum thread and the point of why these people were even worth interviewing wasn't clear.)

I'm glad the show is around to spice up the bitcoin world and draw eyeballs to issues.  (Though 'up up up' is a little too much spice for my tastes!)

I still don't see any other Bitcoin show.

Until then, I'm an OnlyOneTV fanboy.

I like what Bruce and the guys did on the show for the community... As far as getting the word out. However, the editing on the show is terrible, them having their laptops open during an interview..."Yea that's not what you do ! ". I'm a communications major from Seton Hall University and i studied editing and film as my minor. Graduated now.. Thank God! Im probably going to start my own Bit Coin News show. Keep the episodes 5 to 10 min long. Nothing crazy. Just keep it straight and to the point. In my personal opinion i think we need a better spokesman for the face of Bitcoin. I'm not saying I'm the answer, but ill give it a shot. The shows have to be informative, cleaner editing, and have guests that actually matter. With a more professional look... Will attract more people to accepting Bitcoin.

I think if Praxgirl was the spokesperson for Bitcoin it would have a noticeable difference to bitcoins profile. Actually she would be perfect, she only accepts "non-fiat" donations and she is making quite a lot of tips on youtipit.

Interesting....

Hey Everyone,

My crew and I will be making a new Bit Coin Show... Our Studio we are putting together will be based out of NJ. If their is any people within the community who would like to be on our show as a guest or send us videos in regards to your new project you have been working on... It would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at rzuchowski@btcrunner.com . Our format will be nothing like the Bit Coin Show on OneTV. 10 to 15 min shows ...  Few episodes a month. Nothing Crazy. Short and to the point...but yet informative. It's time the face of BitCoin to be more upscale and presented in a more professional manor. Hopefully in the end we will prevail to be the solution . Thanks again and look fwd to your emails.

Sincerely,

Bruce's message in the last show was that this forum lacks what he calls quality in content for bitcoin discussion. But I say that quality has nothing to do with it if you are bias to what people have to say about you or to you. Bruce obviously believes in censorship. If you try to add a comment to his youtube videos you will get a "comment pending approval" message.

At first I liked the show but after a while the promises Bruce kept making and some of the things he would say were flat out lies. He would flip flop on topics and views.

In one episode with Mark from mt. gox he asked Mark if it were possible that when they reopened the exchange after the hack if mechanisms could be put in place to keep the price of bitcoins from dropping below a certain dollar value. Now how surprising of a question is that given that his whole view on bitcoins was "up up up" when in the real world markets move up down up down.

Creating 50 more bitcoin conferences to end up partying with "free" alcohol will not give bitcoin any credence but may in fact take away from what bitcoin has and make bitcoin look bad.

I dont see the point of these conferences just to hang out and drink and have a good time is going to give bitcoin any more value than it already has.

Bruce needs to rethink his initial goals (if they were sound) when he created the bitcoin show. If what he wanted back then has changed then he may as well stop the show altogether and find something else to do.

I never watched it because I couldn't hear the audio. Turned it off after watching for 2 min.

Most conferences are pretty much the same... hang out and drink. You're "supposed" to be sharing ideas, socializing, and taking in info from the speakers. That could drive the value up if a good idea came out of it but that's kind of rare. The only other purpose sometimes is to advertise new products/services in whatever industry the conference is for.

I think people scared bruce away.  He posted on twitter that he wont be taking part in these forums anymore.

People didn't scare Bruce away.  He left because we discovered that not only does his show suck, but he's a scammer of the worst kind.

What kind of person scams someone when they are already financially devastated.... Bruce, that's who.

Its obvious he intended to defraud too:

1) He lied about having 70+ offices
2) He lied about being a 12 year member of better businees bureau
3) He by creating fake testimonials on boldfunding.com's website
4) He lied claiming that Bold Funding saved thousands of homeowners over 12 years
5) He lied about having attorneys on staff.

Direct quotes from boldfunding.com's website:

"Bold Funding has been helped many thousands of homeowners save their home, equity, and credit for the past 12 years. We have 74 regional offices representing every major city and headquartered in Chicago, IL."

"Bold Funding helps hundreds of people each and every year.  We’ve been proud members of the Better Business Bureau for 12 years, and have attorneys on staff to fight for you, but don’t let one more day slip away…  You need to call us right now!   You do not have to lose your home!   We may be able to help you save your home in as little as 21 business days…  even after the Sheriff Sale… regardless of your credit!  Call now… 1-800-567-8922."

Beware anyone defending Bruce as well, they're either scammers or delusional.

The sooner Bitcoin is rid of this filth the better.

This is my take as a viewer since the inception of the first Bitcoin Show episode.

Simple put: The Bitcoin Show is a FAILURE because:

1. Over exaggerated comments Bruce has made that has been shown to be untrue.
2. Lack of content.
3. Blatent censorship/ignoring of important questions (i.e. Why an Mt. Gox auditor needed the plaintext database of users).
4. Unrealistic expectations of bitcoin saying bitcoin only goes "up up up".
5. Making claims of security/decentralization being VERY IMPORTANT then having 25000 btc in one place on a third-party site.
6. Taking 20 shows to get an audio issue fixed. Seriously if you can't hear the show what's the point in watching it.

I do respect the fact that Bruce did come on-air and addressed the mybitcoin.com fiasco but that does not take away from the fact that the show he runs to promote bitcoin is a failure.

#1 and #4 are spot on, the rest are a bit too whiney for a free show/service. I think Bruce's heart is in the right place but he let his eros get the best of him with dramatic claims of BTC rising exponentially and so on. This is dangerously misleading and hopefully he has learned his lesson with the price drop.

If you guys thought that the Bruce show is some sort of technical documentation, then welcome to the real world. Mass media shows are mainly about entertaining, so it always contains exaggeration, unrealistic expectations and misleading things. Maybe watch fox news for comparison - it could be that you will discover that Bruce is more accurate than some others Wink
That said, point 6 is absolutely legit
