The forum was getting to be almost unreadable due to the constant and never ending new crap/shit/scam/alt coin announcments and threads. I was getting pissed off and cranky.
That is, until I found the "Ignore Boards Preferences" option in my profile and I was able to turn off all the alt noise.
Go to your profile. Then "Ignore Boards Preferences" Then checkbox all of the following:
Alternate cryptocurrencies Announcements (Altcoins) Mining (Altcoins) Marketplace (Altcoins)
It is like a breath of fresh air !!!!
Try it, you will like it.

Yeah it's getting laughably ridiculous, there are dozens being released everyday. Too bad really, alt currencies used to be worth reading occasionally. It's gotten to the point where reading and trying to sort through the crap is a complete waste of time, much less moderating it. It's too bad there isn't much that can be done that would be fair and not time consuming.

Because I do not want all the alt noise in my list when I click "Show unread posts since last visit" I now have a nice clean list with no alt noise in it and I can easily browse through and see if there are any interesting threads!

Did this month ago. Since then "Show unread posts since last visit." is (almost) enjoyable again. (Maybe if I also start ignoring "Speculation" )

Newbie forum is getting crapped all over by this stuff too, which could be a real turn-off for new Bitcoin users.
There could be a new Newbie->Alt-Coin sub forum to let noobs post in, and alt-talk in the main noob forum is a test to see if you can read a sticky or get k-lined.

Why don't just open up the altcoin board for newbies?
Lokal Boards don't have restrictions to and work. Also, the altcoin board can hardly get any spammier, anyway.

Like they'll post in the right sections anyway.

This is actually a very good idea. I'd say at least 50% of posts in the newbie section are from newbs talking about alts or being eager to get out so they can post in the alt forums for giveaways etc.

AFAIK it's already the case Excellent. In that case it's more of an issue for us users to report those threads, so they can be moved.
