How do I get the -s flag to work? If I put -s 0.01 in the flag box before I start mining in Slush's pool, it doesn't start mining. It just says "Starting...". If I remove it, things start fine. My GPU gets too hot for me to run it normally, so I was trying to get this to work, though to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

What miner are you using?  It may be a different flag that you need to use.

on my 5850 I have the flag -s.0009 which drops the temp down 3 from 71C to 67C as well as lower my Mhash/s from 650 down to 600.
try smaller values than .01
