I've read a lot of comments about the difficulties that non-English speakers have in gaining merits, so I'm starting this thread to give a few of them a chance to pick up some merits from posts they have made on their local language boards. In order to be considered, the post will need to have a sponsoring translator, and he will need to be a full member to post in this thread. Both the original post and the sponsoring post must comply with ALL of the rules in the sticky referring to posts in the Ivory Tower. The only exception is the rank requirement for the local language poster. This offer is open to all ranks, but, of course the sponsoring poster will need to be a full member to post here.
Note that posts in the Ivory Tower must be made in good English, and should not contain images or heavy formatting. Don't quote the foreign language post, but do include a link at the start of your post. You should also include the name of the OP, so that in the event that I decide the post is merit worthy, then I can award merit. Topics should be related to Bitcoin, or the use of crypto-currencies in global or national economies. They should also be unique, and not just personal interpretations of posts that can be found on the English language boards.
I'm going to start this off with a thread starting post from the Spanish board. I chose it because it had already been awarded a merit. I'm not a Spanish speaker, so I've used Google translate for this example - don't do this! Please translate the post into understandable English, and not Google speak.

Very nice initiative, and a good way to give visibility to underrated local board posts on the English sections. Let’s hope it goes as desired and proposed posts do indeed stick to meritable posts and not a churn of any kind of post.

The first think that comes to my mind is that this post would need to be in local languages It is relatively easy to get merit on the Spanish forum but... I had in mind opening a merit review thread there and this may be a good time. So, if anyone feels that his post in the Spanish forum has not been properly considered just ask for a review. Just make sure that the post is decent and no older than a few weeks - if it is real crap I will ignore you for a month. Please, make sure that the post does have a decent chance of merit and also please make sure that you have not participated in merit trading with your alts or friends. Also, I am suspicious of newbies asking questions that have been solved many times. Sometimes those are the reasons why merit is not given. There are a few people that are very active in the Spanish forum bringing news. I sometimes merit those, but I would be happy if more knowledge about the market, mining and original problem-solving were brought here. Some hints: - A long post is not always "meritorio". - An opinion is an opinion and if it does not bring knowledge or something new I won´t merit it. - I will merit you even if I disagree as long as your post is well thought. A merit is not a "like" and I don´t have ownership of all truth. - I don´t merit more in my threads than in others. - Helping others effectively is highly recommended. What I would like to drive is a section that is a source of good information and help for everyone and increase the number of people who regularly visit it. Now... let´s go and talk crypto.

Yep is far from perfect, but this is from a newbie. Maybe I'm so used to read the newbies in the English section just typing non-senses lines that I feel it be constructive, intelligent and with a point, something more and more strange each day. The other one, yep, has a merit, very deserving, but if you feel the best way to be on topic (I mean, crypto only), this is a nice suggestion to me. We are just trying to figure out how to make it: give some vision to good posters, no matter the language, and also merit some good young members and encourage them to keep going on. The reality is we still cannot develop a whole system of how are we doing to do that. Besides, JC is really interested in the political situation in Venezuela, for instance, so good topics with that topic will be probably merited as well. I think the crypto world is not only about how it works, what software to use, which coin to choose, but about society and how the mere existence of this emerging new economic system is affecting people thoughts and behave. Each technological change implies a social one. And this part is really interesting, as well, and needs to be analyzed in a Bitcoin discussion forum like this one, for the social behaviors and changes are directly related to new technology. But that's my point of view. And we don't have to agree, the more different points of view we have, the more different approaches the new tech receives, and, also, the more different kind of members will be here in the forum, so, the more interesting it gets

I'm sorry to be slow in replying to you. I seem to have taken on rather a lot recently. The idea was to start a thread in the preposting discussions board in the Spanish Main. I need to create a guidelines post, as the information is littered all over the place. If you are 'hot to trot', then you could start a thread there, and we can sort things out a bit later. It might take a day or so for me to put together the formal structure. In fact, it could be useful for you to start now, and that would give us some idea of the problems, and the optimal structure to use.
