Currently bitstamp is down and looks like it will be for a while. What do you think is going to happen to the price

Bitstamp is the market leader for Bitcoiners who are actually interested in cashing out (you actually get paid, and in an acceptable amount of time).

Bitstamp has lead the correction of the past couple of days.

I guess if the main selling exchange is down, then the price goes up.

Bitfinex victims. DO NOT TOUCH THE BFX TOKEN! Start moving it around, or trading it, and you will be construed as having accepted it as an alternative means of payment to your USD, BTC, etc.

Is BitStamp down? I can access every part of their website except the front page. I don't have an account to see if trading is functional.

BitcoinWisdom is showing trades happening on BitStamp as I type this.

I have it up, and just refreshed it now.

Bitstamp being down has a negative effect on prices in short term.  It causes panic and uncertainty.

True but someone going to bitstamp isn't going to like them not having a front page.

Can you explain how they lead the correction?

Erm..............cos that is where the initial and a disproportionate amount of the selling action is?

(Look at the charts)

Bitstamp being down has a negative effect on prices in short term.  It causes panic and uncertainty.

Prices have went up $40 since Bitstamp went down.

The main page is back, the rest of the site was accessible all the time (I've withdrawn my BTC to private wallet just in case, without problems). And the price, well, hard to say if it is still the latest correction, but during the main Bitstamp page "blackout" have fallen another 30 or so USD...

Right now, Bitstamp is up, but Mt. Gox is displaying "Mt. Gox.com loading. Please wait..."

"Please wait..." - that's appropriate for Mt. Gox.

Please see my post here for confirmation and verified sources (all Chinese language, of course).  This problem likely has something to do with the Chinese firewall situation, which is confirmed.  Just read the sources I linked to.  It's all there.

Bitcoin Fact: the price of bitcoin will not be greater than $70k for more than 25 consecutive days at any point in the rest of recorded human history.

It is depressing that so many exchanges won't allow people to actually get fiat out.
