Bytecoin, BTE, was released on April 1, 2013.  This is not the same coin, it is released by someone who did not do enough homework to know the name is already used.

If you want to find BTE, please see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=169559.0

The real bytecoin is traded on Cryptsy and coinex.

I try to be respectful and informed.

This is a total FAIL.

Bytecoin was started in spring 2013 as bitcoin 1:1 copy and it's been quite well.

The real Bytecoin is BTE:
http://altcoins.com/bte-bytecoin.html

And the logo you use if from Betacoin:

What a fail...

can there be more than one BYC ?

Bytecent (BYC)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=845848.msg9471364#msg9471364

PS - off topic (but the bytecent thread is locked so posting it here)
Unless you have a server farm with 100 cores you can dedicate to mining - don't bother with bytecent!!

if you have 1 regular PC (like me) - you'll have to buy coins to keep the miner running (no thanks!).

With an 8core i7 - you may be able to generate 2 bytecents per day according to the calculator (if you're lucky since it's technically "solo" mining)
I mined for 24 hours and got nothing.

POM =  Punish Ordinary Miners (the exact opposite of what this coin is supposed to do)

my soapbox rant:
The crypto world has been consumed by big wallets and leaches...
I'm going back to processing for SETI@home

There are actually two Bytecoins (not including this one).

The original Bytecoin (BTE) was a straight-up 1:1 Bitcoin clone. It was intended for fun and those who had missed the original Bitcoin boat. The second Bytecoin (BCN) was the original Cryptonote coin. It had a unique codebase and advanced anonymity features but was marred by its less-than-ideal distribution and mysterious origins. It would later be forked to produce Monero (XMR).
