NewEgg is having a labor day sale this weekend and they have a PowerColor 6850 for $129 after coupon+MIR. I know the 6850 isn't the best mining card in the world, but at this price it has a really good (if not the best) Mhash/$ ratio. Also free shipping Smiley

Use coupon code: EMCKAKH26

Cheers!  Grin

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

If a 6850 could achieve 300 megahash consistently it would be worth it but according to my thread a couple weeks ago the realistic max is about 280 and average overclock is around 240.

Right, which is about 2.17 Mhash/$. That's better than any card available through retail.

I think it'd be a real good deal for someone looking for a decent gaming/mining card.

I agree its probably good for a part time miner part time gamer but you cant build rigs out of this card. Rebates only good for one card. Then its 150 each so you need at least 6 of these in one machine to get a half way decent megahash per server cost ratio. I haven't done the math but I'd expect it to be some where around 1.3 while the best machines (with brand new parts) are about 1.5

Doesn't say anything about 1 rebate per invoice which is the kicker.  Just get however many names and addresses of family members you need.  I bought 8 powercolor 6870 with 20 dollar rebates and received every single one of them, where as I could only redeem one of my Antec PSU rebates and one of my MSI rebates.  In my opinion powercolor rocks for that reason.

I've got 2 of these cards in my gaming rig and occassionally use them to mine.
Out of crossfire + 900mem/250 core I see 250mhashes per card (500 total) at 70c temperature.

What kind of power usage do the 6850's use?  My 5830 rig is sooo fucking hot.
