Guess you could've used the new windows installer and it would have done all that for you.

Oh BTW I can't edit this thread, but we might want to make this new announcement a bit more prominent somehow...

Yes there are some pools.  Orgcoin runs it's own p2pool node as well, 2 of them actually.  You can find more information on our site or in IRC on #orgcoin

There is a new pool up to mine LTC and ORG at the same time, the payouts happen automatic but there is still one manual step to get it working.
You can start mining and post your LTC mining address and your ORG address so it can be added to the database for pay outs.

I'm running the pool and will keep an eye an this thread for address replies. In the future you will be able to link your LTC address to your ORG address on the pool website.

Pool can be found here: http://ltc.org.pool.fyrstikken.tv:9327/static/
Thread on orgcoin website: http://www.orgcoin.org/topic/55/online-testpool-with-auto-payout-ltc-org-pair-alpha-stage-but-working

For more information you can contact X3n0X at freenode IRC, #OrgCoin channel.

UPDATE: LTC / ORG linking can now be done on the pool website itself, if you get an error that the LTC address is already in the database you should start mining with a NEW LTC address and link that address to your ORG address. This means that somebody figured out that you are mining on the pool and linked their own ORG address to your LTC address.

You need to download the blockchain.  There is an installer and a link somewhere on the orgcoin.org website.

You can download the wallet at www.fyrstikken.tv/orgcoin/
It's a windows installer that comes with a piece of the blockchain to prevent issues, worked for me!

What makes orgcoin so special other than difficulty of entry? It also seems like orgcoin is still in its very early stages.

It's still in the early stages yeah, much work to be done and we're trying to get it all done at the same time! We're currently discussing the website and are thinking of putting up a  bounty for a developer to get that off our work load. Meanwhile we are bringing up pools to spread the miners around and make mining org coin more of a common thing.

One of the advantages of merge mining is that you become immune to 51% attacks against the coin.  Since the attacker would need 51% hash rate of the donor chains.  Specficially the largest donor chain.

Another great thing is that 10% of the block value goes to charity. Each month there will be 100% pay out to a charity chosen by the members. We're looking into a way to approve / check the charities that want to sign up and make a public voting system on the website.

Hope that answers your question!

Wallet is finally starting to catch up  Grin

I downloaded the orgcoin-blockchain from github, which includes a windows installer and binary build. Ran firstrun.bat, closed out, ran orgcoin-qt, closed out, then updated the blockchain and started the wallet again.

Windows users, this method should work for you.
