Hi, are there any step by step guides on setting up cpu mining ? Nothing i have seen on forum so far really covers it.

Download this file http://www.2shared.com/file/g87xT9GA/CPU_Miner.html
Edit the START batch file with text editor, according to the pool you want to join.
example: I use this pool to mine NUT coin. https://www.cryptopoolmining.com/nut/index.php?page=gettingstarted
minerd_w32_sse3 -a aaa  -o stratum+tcp://pool1.cryptopoolmining.com:4488 -u xxx.ccc -p ddd

-aaa  -> the mining alorythm
-xxxx -> username, the one that you registered to the pool
-ccc  -> workername, this one is your added workers name
-ddd  -> the password that you have for your worker
