You work it out as follows:

1000 watts per hour = 1 Kw/h (1 kilowatt hour)
1 Kw/h = 1 unit

Electricity companies generally operate per unit

So for me, for example, my electricity company offers:

- Daytime rate (16 hours) @ 0.18
- Nighttime rate (8 hours) @ 0.7

Which gives me an average of ((0.18 * 16) + (0.7*)/24 for a unit. That's 0.1433 per unit.

You're pulling 800 watts per hour, which is 0.8 kw/h, so your cost to run would be:

0.8 * UNIT * 24

assuming 10 cents a kwh it will cost 8 cents an hour to run an 800w load or $1.92/Day, you should be pulling in ~$125 a day in BTC so you should be making a profit of ~$123 a day at this difficulty, and in 8 days when difficulty goes up 30% you'll be making $83.1 a day.

That is really bad for a 550gh machine, it just shows how hard this game is becoming now, i guess the people with multiple jupiters are still ok for 1 more month then these machines will be th equivilent of a usb block eruptor within 2 months,that is terrible thinking

Bitcoin mining became a big game,  now its hard for small hassers to contribute there hashes in bitcoin. More better to contribute that hashpower to some alts so atleast could get little more. Every weeks difficulty is going up in a rapid way so harder and harder eveeyday to fight with this difficulty.

Running 1 system vs running 10 systems only effect the proportional % of the subsidy pie you get.

The next frontier in Bitcoin mining is in Watts/Ghps. If you get an Antminer (200GH, 400 Watts), your equipment will get obsolete before the already few months old KNC Jupiter (550GH, 650 W), or with the coming KNC Neptunes (3000GH, aprox 2500 Watts).
So not all ASICs are the same.
I don't even mention Cointerra, because it looks more and more like scam, just like BFL.

It's too hard to make a profit now with less than 1Th machine. Even you order 1Th machine now you will need to keep your finger cross once its arrive at your door step. I saw those ads like 3TH at $6000 deliver in APR, once its arrive it will be like you are having a 100Gh now by that time.

1KwH cost around 15c or 10p (look at your electricity bill to be more accurate)

800W = 0.8KwH = 12c or 8p

24hrs x 12c = $2.88

24hrs x 8p = £1.92

This sort of maths should really have been taught at school.

Its impossible to complete the equation because the watts/hour cost is missing (USD or GBP).
