It'd be an amazing plug for sure! I figured it'd be associated to Overstock if it happens, but still...

Now that would be something. Bitcoin is bound to creep into this year's Superbowl in some form. If not official then I'm sure that there will be some guerrilla marketing going down.

how much does it cost for 30 sec commercials during the superbowl now? It has to be several million right? If everyone chipped in just a little, I'm sure a commercial could be put together...

bitcoin is currency much like the dollar or euro. i have never seen a TV advert that only advertises a currency. the closest i have seen are payment gateways such as visa/ western union / paypal.
so if there were going to be a bitcoin related advert, it would be on a service such as bitpay coinbase multibit armoury blockchain.info or even bitcoin foundation/bitcoin-qt

My understanding is that these commercials get produced and approved many months in advance, so I doubt Overstock would mention Bitcoin since they just started accepting it a few days ago. But hopefully I'm wrong!

Anything is doable if you have the money. That would be a great way to start 2014 with a Bitcoin super bowl commercial. Somene should start a fund to make this happen. Let's get a professional advertising firm too...not some moron with a billboard + QR code and nothign else.

Waste of money, in my opinion. But, if someone has plenty of money to waste and wants to this, I won't complain. It would be better to just buy 5 million dollars worth of bitcoin and then give away 100 dollars worth in paper wallets to 50,000 people.

How much would it cost for a few seconds advert? Maybe just an ominous image of the Bitcoin logo? Maybe include a QR code with a million bucks in it so the first person to scan it gets the coins haha. That would get people talking, like, wtf was that?

I wonder what the over/under is for there being a Bruno performing the halftime show. Again, what are the odds?

Agreed. Or half a million people at $10 each. Just make sure they know to download a lightweight client not QT or we will have half a million sad people.

Okay, what are the chances of somebody holding up a Bitcoin sign in the crowd caught on National TV a la... This is what we should be working on: Create sign; Bring sign to the game; Buy tickets from a scalper if not able to obtain elsewhere; Go to seat; Wave sign for four hours. Result: Bitcoin seen at Super Bowl on TV during the game. Bonus points awarded if sign waver is donning a pink tutu. Idea for the sign: QR-Code w/Bitcoin logo, and "I bet 1 BTC for X to win!" (QR-Code links to actual bet)

Fuck it! Two signs, one on each side of the stadium, depicting a 1 BTC bet for opposite teams with two different QR-Codes.
Ideally, an actual husband and wife team who truly like their team to win and are betting against each other. We could recruit such a couple that are already planning on attending, paying their already outlayed expenses plus, to simply wave the signs.

If someone widely trusted wants to generate a vanity for each team, I'll help with the bet accounting for payouts. https://bitcoinvanity.appspot.com/ will get all below for free, if you want to do split-key rather than generating by your lonesome. 1BRNCS vs 149ERS/ers or 1SEA/1HAWKS

I've never been to the Super Bowl but if somebody managed to get in with a sign (and optional pink tu tu) then I am sure that it would be more than worth their while.
