I have been registered to hundreds of forums and have never experienced anything like this.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.  Are there any verterans of this board around that can remember why they created this bizarre system?  Was there a spam flood or some hostile takeover attempt?  I'm just curious why the hoops are necessary.

Yeah, I'm sure there was a ton of spam. A forum about what was at one point basically a penny stock loved by relatively crazy political thinkers, that was also loved by people who program and do various other obtuse computer activities? Yeah, that sounds like the biggest bullseye imaginable.

I am dead serious about needing an avatar. And my post's have been far from useless, they have helped me and a few others get answers to issues that don't need to be in non-noob areas. Post whatever you want here, it will be moved to the pertinent section as the moderator see's fit.

Honestly, I have absolutely nothing valuable to say... I just want to remove this restriction just in case.  I'll still spend most of my time just lurking around all the forums anyway.
