I was thinking about creating a quick app to e-mail me if any activity happens on a certain address or addresses.

Would anyone else find this useful?

Has there been something created to do this already?

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.
