Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

But it gets easier from week to week with all these coins launching to decide if a coin could become big or if it`s an instant fail.  Grin

Hmmmmmm!

I looked into this coin and found out a few things:
It was NOT premined
It was NOT coingen created
The developer has updated the wallet for this coin and even added in checkpoints.
The developer has created other coins (beside this one).
Over 1000 blocks have been mined and it only took me about 3 minutes to mine my first block only putting a half hearten 320k hash into it.

Over all, this coin is better then most of the junk that has been coming out in droves.
It has no potential of ever making it as a currency (but then again neither does BTC or LTC... too few coins).
But it does make a commodity coin (Like 42 in which this was cloned from).

Cheers

This coins has seen some growth.
It seems to be grass roots, miner driven.

It now has a website: 84coin(dot)TK
It now has a pool: http://pool.webcoin.us/84
and they are putting out calls for other aspects of the coin.

Its seems to be a slow but smooth start.
There is continued mining on the coin. They are several thousand blocks into it.

So I guess its just a time to wait and see.

Cheers

Of which I am neither...

If you don't like the coin, don't agree with the coin, don't want to put any hash behind the coin great.
It doesn't affect me one way or the other.
Other then your non-approval, you have not flexed your bona fides as to why as to why this coin is not up to par with other coins such as bitgem, e-token, pheonixcoin, elacoin, casinocoin, astrocoin, hobonickels, xivra, betacoin, qqcoin, catcoin, dogecoin, datacoin, or any slew of other Alt coins. All those coins and more have been listed and have some value attached to them.
Hell there are some coingen coins that have been listed, mined, and hold value. At least this coin is actually created by a developer who has other successful coins and not a pay service.

Just want to see your thoughts.

Cheers

Just to clear the air , I am the person who cloned 42 and launched 84 on Cryptocoin Talk

Just tonight I pushed updated checkpoints to github, and build a new qt wallet.

There is a website run by another member of the cryptocurrency community and also a mining pool.

If you like it, thanks, if you don't move along since there are many other coins out there for you to mine.

84

A clone of the popular cult coin '42' in the same style that Feathercoin is modeled after Litecoin in terms of block awards.

I made only minor changes to the retargeting of how 42 was done and hopefully a coin with 84 second block times can hold together.

I will keep the source code on github updated with checkpoints time permitting and new wallets to help protect YOUR 84 !!!

Website
http://www.84coin.tk/

SPECIFICATIONS

    Scrypt 1024 Algo
    84 second block target
    Difficulty retargets every 7 minutes
Total coins will be only 84
    Block reward .000084

Also someone (not I ) started a request thread to add the coin to Cryptsy here

And people like you are a shining example of why i never joined this forum for years.
I forgot more about cryptography , math & many other things
before you and the countless other thankless bastards who hang out here
will ever learn in your worthless life.

People like you who disrespect others with no reason to should be banned from the human race. Permanently.
Not just for six months.

Come on twitter some night you little puke /

I am @cinnamon_carter

I will embarrass you anytime.

Ohhh , i forgot bots & fake accounts for the crooks around here usually don't surface.

No loss

People who create these worthless coins ought to be banned.

At the very least we need to require people to have a half year old account, before they can create a coin.

You know, I used to support altcoins...  and I still want to...  I believe in freedom to create whatever you want and for the community to decide what it's worth...

But this is getting ridicules.  Can you seriously EVER see this being used in the world?

+1

How I feel about most new altcoin threads.

Yes the coin is quite alive.

No you don't see the developer here often.

The bitcoin alternative currencies forum has become an unregulated and outdated place to find out information.

I don't bump the thread to keep things on the top of the pile.

If you want real information on I suggest you visit cryptocoin talk where the support for the coin is.

There are coins launched there not even posted here by developers that are listed in exchanges.

Of course being listed in an exchange is of little importance to anyone who has genuine loyalty to a coin.

If you are mining a coin and believe in it's future why would you want to 'exchange' it for anything else ?

To the membership here all most people seem to care about is getting a coin to an exchange as soon as possible so they can aquire bitcoin.

I will say there is a lot of good historical information and other information in these forums for bitcoin.

Beyond that the boards are full with spam & no moderation. In particular since the launch of doggie coin. I visit this forum about as often as I drive through a bad neighborhood in Philly where I'm from.   Not often.

Looks like 84 made it to an exchange! http://cryptotc.us/market#84
As others pointed out, there are many new exchanges popping up and people should be cautious using them!
