tried making those mc-gevor rigs with wood and plastic tables... but i want something more appealing then say something i chopped up in my shop. Anyways looking for a 8 pci expansion slot to house my 4x 5850s. I know i've seen rigs with it, but would like to ask you guys for recommendations. My spending limit is 170-180. I will buy a 50 dollar one if it's good. My Choices so far are:

Can't personally recommend one, but have you taken a look at Full Towers instead of Mid Towers? I'd assume there'd be more 8 slot options there.

suprizingly most of the full towers only have 7 standards. Unless u have a few in mind?

I almost bought the Antec 300 too, but it only has  * 7 expansion slots*... 4x 5850 occupy 8 slots.

It's going to be a pain in the neck trying to keep those 4 5850s cool in a case - I say just stick with the DIY open air case. Not pretty to look at, but so much easier to deal with in every other way.

I can top that.  ~$6 for three square dowels (5/8" by 36") and some wood screws I had floating around.  Only running 3 cards right now, but it is drilled for 4 double width cards.

I have 5 of these cases -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112318

I no longer use them have have packaged them back up in their boxes with all of the parts.

Would be willing to sell them for $35 a piece + shipping. Can be paid in $$$ or BTC.

They are lightly used and a couple may have some scratches but they are great cases.

I use the antec 100. just make sure that your power supply is a front rear fan exhaust and not a top fan.    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129098

My 5830s get a bit warm but not over 75c.  Its cheap.

agreed, seriously who would you be trying to impress. I doubt and chick will ever be wooed by a good looking mining rig...

I can hear it now, " look at his sweet cable management " and " look at the size of his psu's wiring trunk, I could never fit that min my case..."

thanks for the recommendations guys. I will think about these options. BTW I like ur video on youtube Jepito. BTw how much is that blower? And do you place any risers on your board? I find it very ackward so I bought some nuts & screws to raise my board about 1/4 inches off the wood table. kjj your build is good too except extenders right know cost upwards of $8.15 each for quality ones. Tho the decrease in 3-10c will really be nice.. The reason I am looking for a case is I have a druggy brother who sometimes do crazy stuff in the basement. I'm sure he probably tempted to touch my gaming rig once or twice.

I see, well don't tell your brother about Silk Road or he might be tempted to steal your BTC. And maybe make a cage for your rig so fingers can't get in there, but it's still well ventilated?

MOST FULL TOWERS ARE ONLY 7 EXPANSION SLOT bro.... except if you buy some tall ones back in 2005 or older. My max budget of 150 is not cheap. You can get good quality mid to full towers with that amount. Just in case you haven't read. ati 5850s occupy 2 slots, thus 4 of them wil take 8 expansion PCI slots in the BACK! Somehow in 2010 they standadized that full towers should have 7... wtf...

The 7 slot thing is WAY older than 2010.  I'm pretty sure it was in the ATX 1.0 spec way, way back in 1995.  The good news is that with the popularity of double width video cards, high end cases are now far more likely to have room for the 8th bracket than ever before.

yea i tried to find a old supermicro from 2005? 2002? 2000? not sure, but everybody should remember those 3 foot tall computer towers. I manage to find one about 2 feet all on ebay but it only had 7! expansion slot. The ones i quoted are 8 slots. I got mine off bestbuy because it was 129.99. It's goes for as low as 59.99 to 119 online. But if you buy from bestbuy u get version 3! while online and ebay they are mostly version 2. Version 2 had incline slope on top. Version 3 has 1 usb 3.0 cable and a flat top with a bump at end.  Don't know if you guys can see this but I posted my rig on facebook.

I will post in mining rigs if u guys want to look. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.msg543560#msg543560
