System Merit

      At the risk of upsetting the leaders of the bitcointalk forum, I think the recently introduced merit system is designed for bitcointalk users to no longer grow in rank. You do not get anybody's merit for quality posts, it's only worth knowing. If you're not in a "sect", you're dead, just stay with the current rank.

Am not against the merit system at all. It is very good and will bring informative and supportive messages to the forum. No doubt about that. However, people hardly give you the merit especially when you are not familiar to those who can give. I was with the suggestion that at least the forum should consider the number of posts. A system should be employed to give the merit based on the information it has been fed with. To be frank it is very difficult for people to give out merits.

The problem is that you should be given merit by other users and not by the site administration, and since it's not a fact that even for a good post or discussion you will get it, it's very sad...

I've checked your posts and most of it aren't constructive nor helpful to the topics that you are posting.

It's not about on how many post you are doing to get merit but it's not about the quantity but it's about the quality you are posting.

Of course, it will be so. Perhaps, the merit system set a noble goal before itself, however in practice it practically hampered any movement on ranks. And hard and almost forever. Several people, so called, the sources of merit, will not be able to physically read and adequately assess all messages in terms of their quality. And the very quality of writing messages is a very relative concept. Therefore, we will soon see younger participants and participants with the number of messages exceeding 500 and even 1000. Of course, if they do not leave this forum earlier.

People have different standards and only those who will excel can get merit from higher ranks. But its not easy to get one merit, this sytem I think is working only to prevent you from ranking up especially if you are not a quality poster.

Your post must be reasonable or some current affair in Crypto related definitely some peoples are give the merit and if you need more rewards you must active in meta and serious discussion then only you have some idea about the merit system. But recently most of the members are stay in same place because it is little hard to get so some changes is possible in future you should wait for corrections.

In order to rank up to jr. Member, you only need to have 30 activities, but if you are going to higher ranks you are going to need merit. 10 Merits for Member, 100 merits for full member, 250 merits for Sr. Member and I'm not sure in the next ranks. But there is a thread regarding the merit system and you can check the number of merits required for each rank. Merits are given by the members of the thread. You will receive a merit from the person if you have a good post.

It's actually not, I tend to give merit where ever I can, there just nothing much to merit.

And just before you, or someone else, comes with "no one is giving low rank members merit", just check out nullius.

You won't receive merit in this section or it is rare.
No one will give you merit for posts or topics like this, you need to write more than 2 lines. I don't think merit sources are visiting altcoins too much because of spam.
