Merited this.
Will be a lot of help for those who are starting here to avoid being scammed or phising sites.
You do not when they will attack. Even MEW was faked and somehow they made victims out of it.

Prevention should always be the first to be thought. Not just clicking on anything out of excitement.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Nice heads up bro, it is everybody's responsibility to make the cryptoworld void of scammers and hackers, triple checking url is essential because these scammers are on the prowl, we always think it won't happen to us until it does. Also I have done airdrops that asked for my private keys, I just ignore and pass.

I recommend to use sites like coinmarketcap to check exchange url address. I always check https connection, links in official twitter and only then add site to bookmarks.

Users must be careful and check everything twice to be sure that their money in safety.

I also use metamask. To avoid phishing sites.
Even if the site is SSL, but it will be a fake resource, I'll see it.

But many of these phising sites will be blocked by Google right?
Until now it was possible to advertise on Google such a fraudulent site - fail by Google..

But still you can receive email or message with the link to a phising site.
And I do not understand that people are still clicking on these links in emails.

thanks!

I also use metamask. To avoid phishing sites.

I also used metamask, but give the extension from my first post a try - way better  Cool

But still you can receive email or message with the link to a phising site.
And I do not understand that people are still clicking on these links in emails.

That's the point where the extension gives alarm.
Maybe I will also add a section about phishing mails

Great OP. I would like to add few more well known phishing sites:

1. A bunch of sites impersonating MyEtherWallet. Never login to your MEW from the link you received from someone. Always use your bookmarks. That is advice you should remember for all exchange/wallet sites.

2. There is also at least two phishing versions of bitcointalk
Here are the links to threads with more info about this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4559589.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3765354.0

In short these sites copy all the posts from bitcointalk and look very legit. You can often get a link to one of them when googling some bounty. They will ask you for login information and steal your user name and password. With the addition of merit, senior accounts are more in demand than ever, so be careful. You can additionally secure your bitcointalk account via signing BTC message on following thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.9520
But be prepared to wait for a long time in case you need your account recovered (half a year) and if you don't have a signed message from BTC address you control nobody will even listen to you.

Hello everybody,

In this topic I would like to give an Overview of the most common SCAMS we are exposed daily.

I'll try to add more SCAMs over time, to give all Newcomers a nice Overview!

Table of contents

Thank you for this thread. I hope there will be less people who will now open their eyes so they will avoid being scam and wasting time. I knew phishing websites but not the next contents down there so it will be also helpful to me. Since December last year, I already avoid airdrops so maybe thats the reason why I got less scammed in airdrops.
