Well, the problem is, this coin needs to move around to be sustainable. Both because of transaction fees, and because of promotion (the fact that you can receive this coin freely without mining is a lot of its appeal).

I do believe that the amounts given off are maybe a little too high (though who am I to question that, having received quite a bunch of them lately - thanks guys!), but until it gets a stable market value, there's nothing that bad in it.

Besides, giving out coins is in the best interest of the holders - it sparks off interest. If everybody was just holding, the coin would probably die, since there's no real source of it (aside from the faucet), and the only exchange we have is low-traffic and mostly visited by people already "converted".
