If I am to decide which altcoin I will preferred to be paid with, I will choose ethereum because this coin is easy to use and can be easily converted into fiat or any other crypto, this is also the second best coin in crypto, it is reliable, faster in transactions and with low fees, and will yield big profit when hold on long term.
Ethereum is by far the best choice if you want to be paid with altcoins, and there are many reasons for that, first of all is the coin with the highest market capitalization and even if it is not accepted in as many places as bitcoin most exchanges will accept it and you can convert it to bitcoin or to fiat, or even better you can keep that ethereum and keep holding it because it is also an incredible investment.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Assuming you're doing remote gigs or remote work. What altcoin would you choose?

I think Ripple is a great choice because of how fast it is.

Thoughts?

I'd prefer Ethereum here. Not saying that I hate Ripple, it's just that Ethereum has the greater probability  of price increase over Ripple. This is more of practicality over efficiency. Yes, the transaction of Ripple outdo Ethereum transactions but for the scenario given by OP that if I am to be paid for work, Ethereum will still be as good as Ripple. Even far better because of the profitability factor.

Here you are asking good question but here you are small limited to your questions , here you need to ask best choice of coins for long and short term , well here I would like to suggest for the short term coin are etn , dgb , BCN  coin and for the other altcoins which are better to hold for long-term  are bitcoin , etherium , dash , litecoin , ripple , etherium classic  , XRP etc
And also beside of these coin we can choose another for average 1-2 month hold coins which are uae coin , Pak coin ( that fluctuate below 100 Satoshi and then it get up to 300 Satoshi easily ) ,
But here my suggestion is also for you is that don't invest in anything until you make yourself better analysis that you did good from.your point of view .

Well if you going to paid with altcoins then why choose XRP only? Just because of the how faster is transaction? I dont think that it is true excuse about it because if you are going to be paid then doesn't mater how fast you get paid, what matters is that you get paid!

I think ETH would be the best currency to accept as payment. It is far safer than XRP and it is ever green coin. You can even earn some more interest when you will hold it as compared to the XRP. So thats my choice.

Well said. ETH really seems to be the way to go I think, based on the responses.

Low fees, fast transaction, and an overall strong coin.

I would prefer ethereum because besides centralized exchanges, I can exchange it with every token I want and will pay less fee.

Ethereum would be the choice for me, it has the better tendency for a price rise and also it can be easily traded on many exchanges against other altcoins.

From my point of view, EOS is one of the best altcoins 2018, and is “Ethereum killer” with infinite scalability, “free” transactions and ICO, which lasts a year. Developers compete with Ethereum not only by improving their creation but also by constantly criticizing Ethereum on Twitter, thus periodically generating heated discussions with Vitalik Buterin (creator of the Etherium), which constantly points out the shortcomings of EOS technology.

I agree, the Ripple is an excellent coin for investment. I really like the Ripple, I bought the Ripple a long time ago, last year. But now, too, a very attractive price for the Ripple. I think this is a good time to buy. I hope that this year the price of the Ripple will reach 5$.

Eth is the best option right now. It has the largest reach and you can buy most other currencies through it. Eth gives you more opportunities to invest than a ripple without the need for additional transactions.

Ethereum is a good choice. It is stable, have high trading value and you can sell it any moment at any exchange. A lot of altcoins are very risky and have unpredictable trend.

At the moment for me, the most convenient means of payment is the ETH. But I think that soon there will be more convenient and promising ways.

I would choose Ripple or Ethereum. I think this two coins are the best ones on the market. They have a great potential and I think they have a bright future. The technology behind these two coins is great.

I still prefer ethereum, it's very easy to trade, has high volume and  many decentralized exchanges just for ethereum token.

Borderless trading with the Jarvis Exchanges.

So it doesn't matter what coins is it as long as it's available to be exchanged to bitcoin or to usd. But It would be best if it's in top 10 in the https://coinmarketcap.com/ so I can directly hold it for a long term, well this is just according to my opinion and own interest.

I agree with this, and that's the strategy I follow too. When ever I have to enough to buy a coin that I consider worth holding long term I check the coinmarketcap and choose one from the top 10 or 15 there is.

and also recently there's a interest among the community for NEO (NE5) based tokens too, as they hold a good potential in the next few years, So trying out some of them too.
The fact that the fundamental coins of the top 20 repeatedly pumped, and the chance that the coin will give a good profit in the near future is very small, (unless the coin is not at the bottom and in the near future is not zaplonirovan powerful release or marketing), look closely to new promising coins such as Pundi x for example.

I strongly prefer Ethereum, in my very own opinion I really think that ethereum has gained a lot of attention, last year was one of the best and up until now Ethereum is proving something, I'd prefer ethereum because of their platform, instant payments and cheap transactions, Ethereum definitely has its potential in the future.
