according to the news at CNBC here is why:
the coin has seen better days. After surging last December to around $19,500, bitcoin has declined more than 50 percent since the start of the year. On Thursday, amid increased regulatory scrutiny in the cryptocurrency space, the coin fell yet again — this time below $8,000, where bitcoin had hovered for several weeks. Late Friday, bitcoin changed hands around $7,400.

Regardless, Bogart(a partner at blockchain capital) said it's still a buy. In fact, he said it's the only coin traders should be buying as the coin becomes more mainstream.

Many of the other forms of cryptocurrency, Bogart said, are "over-promising and under-delivering. Meanwhile you have a few that are kind of excelling at their use cases. Bitcoin being one of them." Bogart recommended selling coins like Cardano, TRON, IOTA and NEO.

"A lot of those tokens are overvalued," Bogart said. "They could be go up significantly, but they also have significant headwind." Alternatives like ethereum, ripple, bitcoin cash and EOS, however, he described as "neutral" — and he told investors to hold for now.

what are your insights why does bitcoin still a buy in spite of all the losses?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I still believe that bitcoin is still a buy. The price now is good to enter buy and soon there will be a reversal once the regulations hovering now melt down. So whoever has fund to invest bitcoin is it.

and he told investors to hold for now.

I'm holding still all my bitcoins and didn't any coins at a loss. If one believes in bitcoin then they shouldn't worry about these temporary price fluctuations because it is not new to crypto traders.

Once slowly bitcoin being used more and more in mainstream businesses then its price can go very high but it may take some time so I believe that it will happen so holding my all my bitcoins.

As long as there are still many people who believe in bitcoin, we do not have to worry that bitcoin will die. in my opinion bitcoin will soon be able to bounce back ...

I don't like all these people telling others to buy bitcoin now. it is not doing anybody any good.
I believe that we are not at the bottom yet and price may fall more and when you keep telling newbies to buy we may end up seeing another big wave of panic sellers who mess everything up again.
just let the market find its bottom and things to calm down with the whales and  their hungry bellies and then jump back in again. it will happen soon and you need to be vigilant when it happens but there is a good chance that going in too soon is not going to end that well.

For those who want to read the full article:

He's right in my opinion. Bitcoin has always been one of the most stable cryptos to date, and it still definitely has the brightest long-term outlook among the major ones. Heck, I would even go one step further and say sell everything and just hold Bitcoin instead. It's hard to justify diversification when everything moves pretty much the same way like 90% of the time. Might as well hold the safest one, right?

Bitcoin is still a buy since if you look at the adoption of bitcoin by big companies this year then you can tell that this year bitcoin is starting to be mainstreamed. I am confused why its value is decreasing but so far as acceptance bitcoin market is already expanding. Though experts said that bitcoin could eventually recover by June or October this year, and this promise gives hope to bitcoin holders.

I think regulations will be even stronger in future but people will get used to those regulation and taxation and it will no longer create panic on market. Government are now becoming greedy over possible tax they can collect from billion dollar crypto market which gonna be over trillion dollar market soon.

When government will start promoting crypto investments and related businesses like exchanges in near future after placing enough regulatory infrastructure crypto can fly to real moon .... Wink

We have to live with truth of taxation, every citizen might have to pay tax on their every crypto income ...

I think the fundamentals remain strong, but the key will be for the Lightning Network to be implemented more widely within the network and to prove itself feasible for scaling.

I have always advocated for buying of bitcoins cause that's simply the best coin that's available for users, mostly everyone has heard of it, it's easy to liquidate the coin. As he rightly said all other alts are overvalued and can burst cause people will just dump them, but btc has time and time again proven to rise up and up. I think these are excellent times to buy and accumulate bitcoins.

i perhaps agree with your opinion, besides bitcoin hasn't yet reached its peak where you cannot buy on and it hasn't still matured yet to be called at peak already, but relatively based on its price and where it stopped you could actually say its on his peak, but not quiet right.

Yes, price now is quite good to buy since btc value is so low. If the value is high and you bought some of it, it will be hard for you to gain income so this is the right time to buy btc, do not afraid of losing because btc will not stay as this. The volatility of crypto is normal patience and trust btc is only the best thing to do for now.

Bitcoin prices tend to fall sharply but surprisingly people still buy bitcoin. Because there are some people who do not have the money to invest comfortably "eat more" and meet their throne. Criminals use bitcoin to launder money, tax evasion, soccer betting, money transfer abroad.

It's  because of there's many people are truly believe in power of bitcoin,  the ability to change the world by financial in the future.
They still buy bitcoin in a lower price because  they  believe  that it will increase  soon and to gain big profits.

Many people continue to buy bitcoin even though recent bitcoin price drops lead to losses. Because of the fact that bitcoin has helped many people get rich quick when it comes to luck. They conceived: the liver would be rich. So if there is no loss then one person or the other still invest in bitcoin.

They see the current drop as a buying opportunity rather than a time to sell everything. Optimism reigns supreme within the market despite the fear-mongering and lack of positive news circulating eithin the market. Most of the people buying think that this is their chance to get in just in case another crazy bull run happens while others think that this price range would never be seen again short-term. Whatever their reasons are on being positive despite the heavy blows in the price, it's surely faith that's the main mover for them.
