There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Ok so let me get this straight, you can mine this coin from the wallet itself? How does that work? Will this be user friendly or super complicated. Also if you mine from the wallet how do pools work?

I was wondering on the same thing actually, can you actually mine from the wallet withouth any pool? And will mined coins go directly to your wallet?

In the QT you click help, debug window/console and type

Code:
setgenerate true -1

I have a strong feeling all of Bristol Uni has built some insane mining rigs and is ready to mine the shit out of Maxcoin on release. There is no hope in buying this coin fairly cheap on an exchange after it comes out.

What causes you to have this 'feeling'. Has there been some news that I've missed?

To achieve "justice for all" I propose the create a single pool that will deliver the maxcoins according to hash contribution to all miners, in this way the mining will be super fair for the "Average Joe" to have a chance to get something in return.
Also returns below 0.0000000001 (that actually can not be redeemed) will be transfered to a Charity Address of lets say http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/, to promote benevolence.

You just assuming it, with 0 evidence and assumption is the mother of all fuck ups, fact is Max Keiser promised no premine, and if there is a premine it will be discovered immediately as soon as the coin goes public, if it turns out premined everybody is going to be all over Max for it

You will see it when it comes to Cryptsy and not by checking the mininginfo in the QT at launch?

My guess is to detract people from mining. Maybe this guy thinks difficulty will be low because of his trolling.

I'd wait for it to be released first before making baseless accusations. This is how rumours start.

Better don't make baseless accusations at all. Always make sure you have the facts right.

While it is true the Genesis block was created almost a week ago on the show, you will be able to see from the block numbers if it was premined or not. Bitcoin had almost 6 hours between its genesis block and block 1. If after launch the block number is still in single (or say, to be fair, double) digits, then it should be fine.

The only risk is that for the first week after launch it would be possible to fork it using the premined block but there would be no point (from a economic point of view) to do so.
