lol.. So a project with noone working on it has the same ability to advance as a project that has a active development team. Is there not some kind of IQ test, that we can do before people are allowed to waste peoples time, and to stop idiotic posting ? The dribbling of a incontinent BABOONS BACKSIDE would be better smeared across the screen than .. "The fact that Maxcoin's developers are still working is worth noting."

There is an IQ test for that sort of stuff. But it's not the general IQ test. You would have to meet the active developers working on it and look at them coding away. In person, not over a web forum. That also tests that they are human. Have a drink with them and ask general, common knowledge type questions. I only know one person IRL that I can actually have a conversation that is meaningful. I will stop my idiotic posting, because I am wasting my time.

Why not creating a discord for official? So community can track the development and mutual discussion.
We do have a discord channel, but it's currently for core team and contributors. Discord made easier to follow up on individual subprojects.

I am an idiot. Just as this post proves that ASICs and FPGAs exist for all these algorithms. I've worked with FPGAs. They can be reprogrammed in about 1 minute to a completely different 'system'. Parallel processing as in running the same 'code' on one chip. Depending on the complexity. 1000s. FPGAs are actually better because of the reprogrammable part. ASICs are designated hardware like a video card is designated to output video to any display. I haven't worked with FPGAs for 18 years. But they were extremely powerful back then. The Altera software costs an arm and a leg. I'm not an expert by any means. I could not implement a full replica of the MOS 6502 on an FPGA, because it's impossible. Look up the undocumented instructions and how coders used them to do impossible things on everything that used that CPU. Opencores website has existed forever. They had open source implementations of anything for FPGAs. I wrote a small synthesizer. It used the UART code, simple 1 bit DAC code, coded my own oscillators (based on the C64 SID spec sheet). The analog filter had to be implemented on a CPU (on an FPGA). I dropped the CPU. Good CPU cores need IP licenses. Serial type of processing on an FPGA is possible, but eats up all the resources fast. I even experimented with the VGA core. Had VGA output to a screen working in 1 hour. Needed few resistors on the GPIO pins. That's it. So as long as there is code that can mine using that 'new' algo, anyone with a cluster of inexpensive FPGA dev boards is way ahead of the game. Here is the link: https://opencores.org/One member of the community is developing a user friendly FPGA miner (which includes Keccak, among other algorithms). There was also a working prototype of this fpga mining using solar energy.

You, me, everyone, don't know what will happen. We will continue working on MaxCoin. Time will tell. Regards.

The mining difficulty of this coin has jumped from about 20k to 150k+ over the past seven or eight hours, is someone trying to attack the coin somehow? Would a 51% attack look like this? I can't see it being profitable to bring that much hash power online when the coin is so cheap at the moment.

Any rumors of max Keizer coming back to MAX? I remembered he originally pumped this coin to around $2-$3.
I heard some talk a few months ago but not sure it was for real. TIA!

He never really left completely tbh, you can see him and his wife Stacy participate once in a while in the Telegram group

have an old private key for Maxcoin. I have downloaded the windows wallet for maxcoin, but I am not seeing a way to import the private key easily. Whats listed on GitHub is either over my head or lacking information. I am not turning up much info via google.
The wallet uses Qt v 4.8.6 if this helps.
Can someone help me on importing the private key?

No. But why would you? Most shitcoins will die, but maxcoin are likely to pump again during the next bullrun.

No. But why would you? Most shitcoins will die, but maxcoin are likely to pump again during the next bullrun. They are trying to be listed on more exchanges I saw all the twitter messages to a dozen exchanges asking for listing with application forms handed in. If we see more liquidity then maybe you can dump on some newcomers soon.

Some good updates coming from the Maxcoin Team. They have an upcoming AMA. Also having a meetup with the crew from February 1 - 12 where they will discuss Maxcoin, show off the Atomminer AM01 FPGA at work and other bits and pieces. Exciting times ahead for Maxcoin
