Thanks for the warning. Basically if anyone or website ask for your private key, it is a big red flag.

Stay safe everyone.

It is better not to give away private keys.

Yes you always have to be careful if someone asks you for a private key. Pages that ask for private keys are always scam and you should never enter your key!! Only participate in airdrops where you need to complete some easy tasks.

Just add a simple rule in your email address : "If the message text contains "Enter your private key" > permanently delete the message"
(of course free emails like gmail/yahoo don't allow this)

Anyway as said many time in the answers above, when you read "Enter your private key" leave.

Yep, i also received this types of email, and good thing that i never sign up into this kind of airdrop, for now i refuse to some airdrops because of excessive scams everywhere, and airdrop is the main source of information, which i believe from the start. Whenever i read some invitation for airdrops i carefully review first if they need additional information about the wallet address., if it is, i just ignore them. Scammers nowadays are brilliant., so lets be more mindful with this.

First of all, why would you give your private keys to someone you doesnt even know. Next, if they demand something without a basis or complete information about the said project then probably its a scam. Dont trust anything including some that you received on your email. The scam is called fishing and if someone bite into the bait then kiss goodbye to what you have on your account.

Do not do anything stupid by giving a private key, they do anything to steal your token.
some cases of token thefts by fishing methods.
save your private key and bookmark your wallet.

A lot of emails coming from any ICO and some of them is really just a scam. Don’t give your private keys to anyone, don’t take the risk just to have $10 in exchange of you $100. Always think that this market is profitable if you work harder so don’t depend on airdrop.

I don't think anyone in his right mind will fall this scam , to give your private key away just like that , is like given your atm card and pin to a thief. Thanks for the alert and hope no one will fall for it.

My advice is for you to stop participating in those airdrops and filling it up with your personal email. It's just a trap so they can send you those phishing emails or to market their coin to you. They are also collecting emails just to spam us.

The noobs if not using their heads very well will always learn the hard way. Even if you see Vitalik's personal twitter asking you to send you private keys is pretty unreliable. Few weeks ago Charlie Lee did tweet something like an airdrop and it he ended it with an explanation to warn everybody on possible online scams.

LOL. There are so many airdrops also require MEW wallet private key from pariticpant to be able to join airdrop. LOL.
I don' think there will be anyone fall into this trap cause it's the worst way to scam other people cryptocurrency cause you just need to know wallet address to send token to other people but privatekey. LOL

fraudsters are very persistent in fraud and trap their prey, they use every means, they try to deceive everyone with different methods, I often receive incoming emails and I never respond, even though they never tire of sending them.

This is nothing new.

You are basically crazy if you end up falling for this.

Some of these scams are even more advanced however.

Suppose you have a MEW account, usually you might get an email that says "Free Airdrop, login to MEW to register" and the link is phished and the URL is something like MyEitherWallet.com and you aren't careful and paste your Private key and get scammed.

Others are basically those fake BTC forks where you need to download their Bitcoin client, and importpriv key and when you connect to the internet your BTC and BCH and all forked coins of value get stolen.

This is why there needs to be more education about the security of your coins and private key, because everyday people keep falling for these scams.

Some airdrop starts cheating, does not make sense.
to get 1 $ sometimes required deposit. This is crazy. besides that issue there are still many airdrop who try to cheat with various methods.
it's best to forget the dangerous airdrop chanel.
