Trying to vote this morning and all browsers say the web sockets error pop-up... is this just me?
Extended power outage due to ice overnight. Heading in to get the server restarted No worries folks - we are admittedly still in beta and NOT on production hardware yet. That upgrade is this weekend if all goes well.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Server is back up and voting is online again.
Also found a bug in the voting page - if you receive the websockets error, it wont try and reconnect anymore. That's been fixed, but you'll still need to refresh your page or re-load in a new window to get that update. After that it should at least always try a reconnect before announcing a failure. `

I still get the websocket error in Firefox 27.

Was a bug in the server software, just noticed it was down.
The more this happens, the more we can trace the errors and get them fixed before we go live. Bugs in beta arent a bad thing, helps us shore up the server for release.

Websockets error is back... Yeah the damn bug is testy. Every time I think we get it it comes back. We have so much debugging in the server code that it's crazy. But every freeze we get closer to finding out WHY its freezing. We'll get it. Have to get it. Cant go live with a freezing server app

How long until launch? Soon? We are working like dogs to get this site up and running. The DB server was built over the weekend and is about to be hooked into the alpha testing, and we're going to test deposits and withdrawals today.

Can't wait for a decent exchange to launch that isn't run by some man behind the curtain (Big Vern) and that finally has a logical system to add coins...

We haven't forgotten anyone - been working hard. Had a lot of holes in the new user registration we had to close up, and that seems to be done. On to the next step.
We have this weekend free (yes, we are all losers without women, or women who live hours away, or in one case, one who hates valentines day!) so we'll be getting this thing up soon. We are hoping to be able to tell you a launch day in the next day or three. It will be sometime next week. Fingers crossed. It's taking a lot longer than we thought it would!

I know this won't be a priority but I would be interested in a referral program. Consider it a part of marketing

We wanted to solicit an opinion.
We were contacted today to add a new coin to the voting, and I'm highly leaning against it.
The coins name? Altcoin.
Yes, Altcoin, the generic term for all, well, altcoins.
Something else fun? There's already another coin called Altcoin.
So, it's an Altcoin, thats called Altcoin, the same thing as another Altcoin called Altcoin.
Thats like starting a car company called Car.
1: Hey man, I'm buying a new car! 2: Sweet, I heard they are really cool. 1: What? 2: Cars are really cool. 1: Uhhh.... yeah... we all know that. 2: No man, not cars, Cars! 1: What? 2: You said you're buying a Car right? 1: Yeah... are you insane? 2: No man, the new Car cars are top of the line. 1: Why did you just say "car cars"?
Seriously. Do we have to do this?
So, I'm considering implementing a rule that we will also NOT list coins that lead to confusion. Like if some tool makes biitcoin. Or Dojcoin.
Thoughts? After all, we want to do what YOU want...

Altcoin is a terrible name. Since it is a duplicate, they will probably end up changing the name.
Other things to avoid are trademark issue coins.
You probably should get some guidelines written down.

I actually received a reply from the dev telling me that it's called altcoin because it's the king of all altcoins.
And I should stop thinking of other coins as altcoins, and think of their coin when I think the word altcoin.
"If you just think ALTCOIN is ALT, don't think ALTCOIN also includes litecoin, dogecoin etc, then everything will be ok."
If I only change my way of thinking, then their name is ok.
I'm gonna release a new candy and call it Coke - and just tell people to stop thinking about Coca cola when they think Coke, and think candy instead.
