There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

No error that I can see.  Cards go to whirling, miner has them at ~215 each, but it stays at 0/0.

add

ntp=1

in the conf

It's there.  getinfo gives me the right block/diff.  Just no work goes though.  Using the window bundle.

Yup. Throwing 9 Gh of legit hashrate at it as a little "you must be at least *this* tall to 51% this" barrier. Wink

The stale rates are quite high. I am getting around 30% on a private pool.

Are you on poclbm ? Because so far it seems to behave the best "out of the box" on Geist (experiments with other miners welcome, though)

But...but but butbut...Geist's blocks are faster, and Geist has bigger and vital-er security fixes ! Smiley Also, Geist has escrow

I've been pointed to a thread where Bitcoind optimizations for pools are being discussed, and will likely try to monkey some of those into geistd this weekend or so (maybe earlier, I'm sorta on the move now).

I would be very grateful if you agreed to carry out some testing of that branch (assuming I get it work, lol Wink ) via your private pool.

If you put this up somewhere, I would give it a go. But for the moment i am back to BTC because the stales are quite high. You should perhaps look into getting some public pools setup.

Cheers

cool well good luck with that, I dont really trust the situation going with that coin, I saw no announcements or changes. I hope yall make a ton of btc, but geist geld isnt for me. I'd rather see a formal announcement and a statement from Lolcust that the hackers screwing over the community dont have access to any funky mined coins.

1) there was an announce

2) the announce was preceded by a vote thread which I made to let people with legitimately mined Geists voice their opinion.

But I will make another announce thread just in case somebody else missed the memo lol Smiley

There was both announce and a separate thread with vote on whether we should reset (I decided to let people who mined themselves some Geists voice their opinion before going through with any drastic action)

Sorry you missed all that.

I'll make announce thread in case anybody else missed the memo, too.

After some consideration I decided that mining a concurrency with no inflation limit isn't worth the hassle.
I might try it if I ever get some technology which can corner gpus in a year or so though just to see what it would do to difficulty Tongue

I would also mine it if I had any significant hashrate now and I understand why people who have it do.
