Over in the Marketplace forums there is an announcement of a new site, the "Crypto X Changer" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43653.msg521437

The site boldly claims "Please note we will not be disclosing any of our additional & special features until our official Launch Day."

Their launch will be sometime this month.  The launch will be live on OnlyOneTV / The Bitcoin Show.

First reply in the thread is from BitcoinMedia recommending the service that little is known about, and then this post on the Bitcoin Media site is made http://bitcoinmedia.com/69878975

So full support from a site I am currently contributing to just for the love of Bitcoin https://bitcoin.org.uk/forums/topic/213-need-bitcoinmedia-contributors/

Looking quickly into this http://twitter.com/cryptoxchanger/ has their first Follower and person they are Following is BitcoinMedia and BruceWagner accounts.

So a connection is there.  Promotion is being made.  Why do I feel funny?

I was going to make a post with this information in a little tighter and funner to read way, but honestly I have no intentions of trying to queer any deal between whoever is currently behind Bitcoin Media, Bruce Wagner, OnlyOneTV, and the upcoming CryptoXChanger by using the BitcoinMedia site as a platform for such curiosities.

I'm confused, what is the point to this post?
Is there a message your trying to convey, or are you simply trying to formulate an idea thats not based on fact, rather your personal opinion?

Do you have any proof that Bitcoin Media, Bruce Wagner, OnlyOneTV, and the upcoming CryptoXChanger have anything to do with each other?
It seems like the only facts you have are that they follow each other on twitter, and theres a post on BitcoinMedia about it.

Forgive me if this comes off with some haste, I'm only trying to be prudent here.

I follow the Free Masons on twitter and I'm a Jew, does that mean I'm an elder of zion and want to take over the world ?

Please take no offense here, but enlighten me!  Smiley

I believe you missed the question, Why do I feel funny?

This negates the rest of your odd post where you have taken the information that I am attempting to not string together into some weird conspiracy theory, but rather I am generally fucking curious as to what is going on here.

The other fact is the post BitcoinMedia (the user, not the site) has made on top of the post on BitcoinMedia (the site, not the user), rings as odd to me is all, I question it, I am attempting to discuss it on a forum even.  So I am glad you asked for clarification of my post, I am confusing at times and am aware of it.  So the fact is everything I posted.

To make it super clear, the intentions of my thread are to NOT draw fucked up conclusions without reasoning, thus asking questions and trying to find information Smiley

The reason that Crypto X Changer is appearing everywhere is because we have started to get our PR organised.

There is no links between anyone, Crypto X Changer is a private Australian PTY LTD company with no connections to any of the mentioned media companies, there will be advertising in many places for the Exchange and our other coming services. We had provided our initial post to a few media site owners.

The Exchange is a totally custom built trading platform which has taken many months to complete, with many integrated features.
Many advanced security features have been implemented for the safety and security of our exchange users.

Regards

The Crypto X Changer Team

Awesome, thanks for that clarification.

Then now I should be asking the user (not the site) BitcoinMedia why they are recommending your services without using it ? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43653.msg521437

Perhaps that says more about the value to put on BitcoinMedia's recommendations than it does about Crypto X Changer (which I wish well in its launch). Unless media outlets have been given private beta access to test the interface before launch, I will take any future recommendation by BitcoinMedia with a very large grain of salt. Lazy media these days just reproduce press releases.

We had extensive talks with BitcoinMedia and other Media explaining why our Exchange will benefit the Bitcoin community, and from what we can tell BitcoinMedia are just as excited as we are about the launch of our product to the market.

We look forward to benefiting the community.

Well as a media outlet, I hope BitcoinMedia.com can remain as unbiased as possible when reporting news (the site, not the user) and press releases.   Currently contributing to the site, I like knowing there are no conflict of interests in the background (and I also hope the things I am posting are a little bit better than reproduced press releases, look for that "Bitcoin Porn" seal of quality / spam / http://bitcoinmedia.com/bitcoinica-three-days-passes-tradehill-second http://bitcoinmedia.com/updated-solidcoin-attack-method-used-in-namec  http://bitcoinmedia.com/mt-gox-taking-over-bitcointalk-the-official-u / spam / )

1.Bruce Wagner has nothing to do with bitcoin media-how many times does this have to be repeated? cryptoexchange was intending to launch on the show and has nothing to do with bruce either.
2.Ive had long discussions with cryptoexchanger and believe the platform they are bringing out will be great for bitcoin. They have spent a great deal of money on security and getting everything in order. Maybe if you spent less time wearing a tin foil hat and speaking to people they would share stuff with you .
3. I copy and pasted a forum post.
4.Ive defended the bitcoinmedia blog since noagendamarket left with people saying it has gone to shit.
5.Which competing exchange told you to post this shit in the forum and why didnt you contact people first with your concerns ? Lots of things get posted on the blog from youtube videos to reviews to personal opinions. Take what you read with a grain of salt because bitcoinmedia has been a totally volunteer job which I see no one else stepped up for. The pr department of bitcoin is non existent. Why post this on the forum which looks like an accusation of impropriety because it talks about a new bitcoin exchange?
6. What is mt gox paying you to do their dirty work ? Its about time a professional exchange was started to compete with them. The fact 90% of bitcoin infrastructure is owned by them and as soon as a promising competitor wants to start up they get attacked seems a bit suspicious to me. This post reeks of a hit piece.

FWIW I get a lot of behind the scenes access to many different sites before they are released. Dont be jealous be happy there is someone in the community these sites trust enough to entrust with their news. No wonder some businesses avoid bitcoin because of bitcoin forum members calling them scammers.

P.S. CoinMedia is not a journalist. Calling them a "media outlet" is retarded. Its a BLOG.

If you take your head out of your ass long enough you would notice the comments in one of those stories by Lanie Grace. This is a pseudonym used by BitcoinExpress. Why is he posting this fud ?

If cryptoexchange is still around in a year and hasn't run off with everyone's money, then I might consider checking it out. Launching the site on convicted fraudster Bruce's bitcoin 'show' means that I'm going to stay well away from it until then. From my inquiries with bitcoin trading friends, I am not alone with my views either.

Launching a bitcoin site on Bruce's vanity show is like a childcare creche being opened by Gary Glitter.

JONHIND - What is your approved list of sites and places to advertise our new exchange? We have not just built this overnight, the Launching on The Bitcoin Show was organised a long time ago. We will look into what you are stating here.

I'll lay it down straight. It surprises me that someone who is planning on launching a bitcoin exchange can be willing to have anything to do with someone who has:

a) Run a mortgage scam company, defrauding many desperate and vulnerable people.
b) Has defaulted on rents around the country.
c) Heavily promoted MyBitcoin, and continued to do so for weeks after being warned by the community.

There are also a lot of other allegations about Bruce, which while are serious, don't have any reflection on the bitcoin economy.

The vast majority of bitcoin users know about Bruce, and I believe that most of them do not trust him. He was asked by many people to explain some important points regarding his past and present dealings, and he replied by running away to a forum where he moderates every single post.

With regards to you advertising your site, this forum is probably the best solution, as are other bitcoin forums. If your site is secure, becomes trusted and works, then word of mouth will do the rest. If you desperately want a video interview, there are people other than Bruce who have produced some quite informative bitcoin video interviews.

Surely you can understand why many people will not trust you if you are in any way connected with Bruce? Many people pulled out of MtGox because they still advertise on his show (myself included). Many of us have been burned by the MyBitcoin fraud to ever consider being scammed twice.

Ok JonHind,

We can now see....

Our company is completely legitimate and we do not at all want to be associated with any other companies that are like that.

Crypto X Changer was built and designed for the Bitcoin Community from the ground up by our own in house programming team.

We are reaching out to all audiences to promote Bitcoin and our safe and easy platform, making it very simple, easy and bullet proof for Professionals through to non technical people. There are many more products that we have in the works following the Exchange, to bring Bitcoin more to the general public and make it very acceptable and easy to use for Merchants, Consumers and other Bitcoin related business's.

Our goal is to be totally transparent to the community, we have been working on our exchange for a long time now and we have invested a lot of money into our Hardware Infrastructure, Security and of course the development of our exchange. Crypto X Changer is here for good, we are not a fly by night scam, we are an Australian registered company. Our passion for Bitcoin is the same as our users.

Regards

Thanks for the reply, but it still does not allay the many fears that people have concerning any new exchange. It's all just words at this stage. However, I will give your site the benefit of the doubt. Time will tell me if I will consider putting my money into it though.

Regarding the:

Quote

Are you now reconsidering how you are going to launch the site? I have a fine line that I have drawn regarding Bruce, and I refuse to have any of my investments in sites that are connected to him in any way. I know many other people who were hit with the MyBitcoin scam who think the same way.

Check out this post for a brief summary regarding Bruce. The entire thread (which was started by Bruce) is an interesting read.

Anyone trying to promote their show let alone being launched, by being interviewed by an experienced and clever con artist  - well, you can see why this might need a rethink Wink

I wish you all the best of luck if you are genuine.

BitcoinMedia is an open outlet for people to post any topics. I try not to restrict the editors.

Nonetheless I had the same worries you did about that post and was waiting to speak to CoinMedia on IRC. Especially when members of my own group are pushing me to advertise our services then pointing to that post when I refuse. BitcoinMedia should really be an educational community site free from commercials.
