I think the best one to invest right now is the known coins. I still invest in many coins but coins like bitcoin, ethereum, ripple, litcoin, dash and so forth will stay relevant for a long time and will be deciding on the market, bitcoin being the best one out of them.
If you want to invest long term (aka couple years) the best option is still making a portfolio with those coins. Otherwise the risk is getting higher the lower you go in the ranks and if you buy like 157th biggest coin of the day than you will have a chance to lose a lot of value.
