UPCOMING UPDATE INFORMATION: (Corporations)
First & foremost, Corps are going to be partly similar to Joint Stock Companies from the real world. All nice and fancy, aye, but what is this new update about and what can corps do actually?
Check this out:I.- Corps can have a name that can be changed by the Head (there are Heads and there are Shareholders, we'll get to this*)
- Corps can have its own account with cryptocurrency (for its Head, aka Managing Director, to actually be able to manage it)
- Corps have shares and shareholders and the above-mentioned Head (he's not necessarily the owner though)
- Corps can own planets, resource pools and knowledge (more about it at the end)
- Corps will be able to control sectors for more profit (this will come with the Wars update)
- Corps will have access to a new type of planets that will also have to do with more ways of increasing its value (to be added in the Wars update as well)
II.- At first, when the update is live, there will be 3 corporations added to a new Shares Auction and they will be owned by United Earth Government initially. More corporations can be added if demand should be high for them (one new corp per month - so as not to decrease their value; although the team will listen to any post-release feedback :wink: )
- Each corp can have 10000 shares (100%). 1 share is 0.01%. All 3 corps will be put up for sale (a presale will be run): there will be 3 auction lots (100% of the shares) to be purchased by players who would want to develop their own space businesses that will grow in value over time. The price tag is unknown right now but it will not be cheap because it is not a single planet but an entire entity that can have lots of planets and have passive/active income possibilities
- Players can become shareholders in the corps. That means that space explorers (or businessmen now?) will be able to buy corp shares at the shares market when new share lots are put up for sale by the first owners
- A player can become Head of the Corp. Head is not necessarily the owner as he can be appointed by a vote (it can be started by shareholders who own more than 5% of the corp's shares). Head can manage the corp: that is to manage the corp’s account (with ETH) to 1) buy planets, 2) sell planets, 3) initiate dividend payouts, also he can 4) change the name of the corp, 5) initiate wars (will be in the Wars update), 6) use new planets with special functions (a secret feature to be added later on)
- Head can be replaced if he manages his corp poorly, just like in real life, investors (shareholders) get to decide (a vote is started by those with more than 5% and of the vote is approved by the owners of more than 50% - Head is replaced)
- Dividends. That is a way for shareholders to earn. Head initiates the payouts and decides on the size of these dividends (again, if shareholders don’t like the way Head manages, including the dividend matter, they can start a vote to replace him). The dividends are taken from the corp’s account and are distributed among its shareholders. The rule is: any shareholder gets his dividends depending on how many shares he has in that corp (more shares=bigger payouts, fair distribution). And now a bit more detailed about the source of dividends: the corp has its own account. So any shareholder 1) can sell their shares (the first owners will want to profit from selling and thus auction some of their shares) at the auction and put a portion of the ETH they got from selling into the corp’s account, or 2) can just send ETH there, or 3) the corp can get ETH from planet trade (which is managed by Head, so he’d better be a good manager or else...karma). OH, AN IMPORTANT THING: Head can’t withdraw ETH from the corp’s account to his own account, only initiate a payout that will distribute all eth (available for the div payout) to all shareholders proportionally
III.Finally, the last part for now. A corp’s value should grow over time. Here’s why: as mentioned before, it has its own planets; it also has its own resource pool from all planets it owns; it will have its own knowledge pool (this will be needed in the Wars update to wage wars with strategic space fleets); it will have access to a special new planet type with special functions (=more profit possibilities); and it will control sectors and take fees from all the dealings in any sector it controls (the control feature, again, as I mentioned above, will come with the Wars).
Some things may change somewhat because the team will be looking at how things go when the update is released (some bugs may occur, some balance tuning may be needed, etc ...). So any feedback will be welcome, guys, including your requests for any features / corp balance / price and so on.
P.S. Several 0xUniverse bugs will be finally fixed after the release of this update!
