When did you need to register on BitcoinTalk to get free merits?

Introduction

I was curious, when did a user need to register on BitcoinTalk to get free merits. I decided to create the spreadsheet representing a datetimes and activities.

Firstly, the BitcoinTalk user activity updates approximately every two weeks. Actually, the interval is slightly longer by 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Secondly, let say that the users post at least 7 messages each week. Thirdly, a Hero member should have a random activity 775-1030 to rank up to Legendary, so let call them a lucky (775) and unlucky (1030) Legendary.

The first column of the spreadsheet is the Unix time, the second column is the UTC time. The third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eightth columns are the activity of a potential unlucky Legendary (1030), lucky Legendary (775), Hero Member, Senior Member, Full Member and Member respectively.

The merit system has been adopted on BitcoinTalk at January 24, 2018. Every Member got free 10 merits, every Full Member got free 100 merits, every Senior Member got free 250 merits, every Hero Member got free 500 merits, every Legendary got free 1000 merits.

Conclusion

1. When did a user need to start posting on BitcoinTalk to get free merits:

• 1) Potential unlucky Legendary needed to start posting before April 14, 2015, 11:13:20 AM.
• 2) Potential lucky Legendary needed to start posting before December 22, 2015, 01:13:20 PM.
• 3) Potential Hero Member needed to start posting before October 11, 2016, 03:33:20 PM.
• 4) Potential Senior Member needed to start posting before June 06, 2017, 05:26:40 PM.
• 5) Potential Full Member needed to start posting before October 24, 2017, 06:33:20 PM.
• 6) Potential Member needed to start posting before December 05, 2017, 06:53:20 PM.

2. How many merits did a user earn to rank up:

• 1) If you see a Member and his/her ID is greater than 1384642, that means he/she earned at least 10 merits to rank up.
• 2) If you see a Full Member and his/her ID is greater than 1246105, that means he/she earned at least 90 merits to rank up.
• 3) If you see a Senior Member and his/her ID is greater than 1023038, that means he/she earned at least 150 merits to rank up.
• 4) If you see a Hero Member and his/her ID is greater than 907881, that means he/she earned at least 250 merits to rank up.
• 5) If you see a Legendary and his/her ID is greater than 702581, that means he/she earned at least 500 merits to rank up.

I think you missed the fact that Unlucky Legendary users received 1000 merits, even though they were still Hero Members.

May I suggest changing the title? It sounds like a dumb question while it is an interesting analysis, so it doesn't do it justice.

Nice statistic and conclusions especially. If in 2017 everyone knew about bitcoin and crypto currencies, then in 2015 - 2016 no so many people. Now I realize that Legendary people really deserve their rank, at least they found this forum more earlier then the 99% of other users. Well done, author!

One thing to mention: You calculate 1 post per day for the users, but it's not the usual/average posting habit for the most of the users here.
The title is a bit misleading with the free merit mentioned in, I agree.
I'm curious, why bounty spammers haven't found this thread yet to start complaining against the merit system ...

I didn't know about that. Thanks for the notice. It seems that unlucky Legendaries don't exist if we are saying about the distribution of a free merits at 24 January, 2018.

One thing to mention: You calculate 1 post per day for the users, but it's not the usual/average posting habit for the most of the users here.

Actually, a user had to post at least one message per one activity update interval and have enough total message count at 24 January, 2018.

I'm curious, why bounty spammers haven't found this thread yet to start complaining against the merit system ...

It is just an analysis. I think that the earliest users deserve of getting free merits.

Thus, if a user had at least 775 activity at January 24, 2018, he/she received enough free merits to rank up to Legendary in the future.

I looked at your profile. You are registered on BitcoinTalk at August 22, 2015, 09:21:13 PM. You could receive 1000 free merits, but you started posting at December 27, 2015, 10:29:36 PM.

You didn't post any message for a four months after registration, therefore you had no enough activity at January 24, 2018, and as a result you received only 500 free merits. In any case, a Hero Member is considered a high rank too.

Your situation is almost similar to the situation of LTU_btc mentioned above. You didn't post any message for a long time after registration, therefore you had no enough activity at January 24, 2018 to receive 250 free merits.
