I have a question. One of my wallets is from 2016 not even gui version). Is it be a problem to upgrade it to new wallet version?

I think there shouldn't be any problem. Just to be careful, take your private keys before upgrading

Like the other user said, be sure to have your private keys safe somewhere and then it is very easy to import them anywhere.  Otherwise you will need to try to open it in a newer GUI wallet and see if it works.  If it doesn't then you will need to use your older version and export the key.  I think it will work though because in 2016 we had a GUI wallet and we were already known as DigitalNote (not DarkNote anymore).

[MANDATORY UPGRADE] DigitalNote 5.0.2 Release & DigitalNote GUI 1.0.15c-beta Released

To be sufficiently prepared for the scheduled network upgrade, users should download and run the new daemon (v5.0.2) or GUI wallet (v1.0.15c-beta) BEFORE block 669,369.  Please note that this is a refork due to this issues explained here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4451957.msg40980746#msg40980746.  A blockchain resync is not needed, necessarily, but if you experience problems you may choose to do so.  Only this version will work after the fork of June 25th .  If you download/sync with the blockchain using the old digitalnoted (v4.0.3) or old GUI (v1.0.14-beta) after the hard fork, you will be on the old chain.  Consequently, if you make a transaction while you are in this state, then that transaction will be on the old chain (don't worry, you can get your XDN back on the new chain per guides below).  Exchanges and major pools have been notified and sent the releases last weekend and will begin updating as soon as possible at which point their wallets will be back online.

Information:
On block 669,369 (approximate date June 27, 2018), there will be a hard fork on the DigitalNote network. This is a re-scheduled and consensual network upgrade, so unlike the BCH/BTC split a new coin won't be created. Rather, there will be a split in the DigitalNote blockchain, where the consensus will start following the post-fork (or "new") chain, instead of the pre-fork (or "old") chain.

Release Notes:
- Proof-of-work change to CryptoNightV1 (variant 1 also known as "monero7") to remain ASIC resistant
- Difficulty adjustment algorithm has been updated to Zawy's LWMA-2 to resist hash and timestamp attacks
- Seed nodes updated to be operational (no more unresponsive seeds from old dev)
- Block target reduced to 2 minutes
- Difficulty is hard-coded to “reset” back to GPU levels for blocks immediately following the fork so that the network continues to work as intended and does not stall
- GUI embedded pool miner now works
- Latest checkpoints and small Payment Gate bug fix
- Arch Linux compile fixes

GUI Wallet (v1.0.15c-beta):
https://github.com/DigitalNoteXDN/digitalnotewallet/releases

CLI daemon and wallet (v5.0.2):
https://github.com/DigitalNoteXDN/digitalnote/releases

How to Upgrade:
1) Download the new binaries from the official website or Github.
2) Extract the new binaries to a new directory of your liking. This is the easiest and recommended way (alternatively, however, you can overwrite the old binaries).
3) Opening the new client will automatically load your wallet although it is recommended to always have a backup copy located somewhere else.
4) A blockchain re-sync is not needed. If you start the v1.0.15b-beta of DigitalNote it will simply pick up where it left off.

Paper Wallet:
You don't have to do anything. However, if you want to restore a wallet after the scheduled network upgrade, you need to use the new binaries.

Solo Mining:
You need to update the command line wallet to solo mine.  Make sure to download v5.0.1.

Pool mining:
Pool operators running dvandal's cryptonote-nodejs-pool should be ready to modify "cnVariant" to “1” in their config.json file after the fork height.  Pools running other software should be ready to update their algorithm to monero7/CryptoNightV7/CryptoNightV1 (they are all different ways of saying the same thing).  Miners should switch their software over to the CryptoNightv7 algorithm after the fork.

We recommend XMR-Stak v2.43+ but you can use any CryptoNight Variant 1 compatible miner: https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/releases

In your pool.txt config be sure to set “currency” to “cryptonight_v7” after the fork (instead of “cryptonight”).  Welcome home, GPU miners.

Common issues:
Below are Monero based guides for when they similarly hard forked earlier this year, so the wallet versions and block heights will be different, but the same process applies to DigitalNote:

I forgot to upgrade (from CLI or GUI v0.1.4.0 to CLI or GUI v0.2.0.x) before block 170000 and, as a result, accidentally synced to the wrong (alternative) chain:
https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/7989/i-forgot-to-upgrade-from-cli-or-gui-v0-11to-cli-or-gui-v0-12-and-as-a-result/

I forgot to upgrade (from CLI or GUI v0.1.4.0 to CLI or GUI v0.2.0.x) before block 170000 and created / performed a transaction on the wrong (alternative) chain
https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/7993/i-forgot-to-upgrade-from-cli-or-gui-v0-11to-cli-or-gui-v0-12-and-created-pe/

If you still require help, please post your issue in this thread and describe it in as much detail as possible. Also, feel free to post any other guides that could help people and we will add them to the list.

We have team members in many different countries around the world Smiley.  We have had clever giveaways in the past by some in the community: https://twitter.com/xdnfastdraw and a bounty campaign would be nice at some point--we will keep that in mind.

Is there a list of exchanges that were contacted and are supporting this fork?

Bittrex and Upbit have been very cooperative with us and have already loaded the new update.
HitBTC has been in contact with us but they are acting very weird and speak with broken English.  They reached out to us and then acted like they weren't receiving our emails and then attempted to "negotiate" some sort of "deal".  We are still waiting on their latest response to understand what exactly they are trying to do.
Minergate has been very cooperative and will have the new update ready to go on the 25th.
All the smaller pools have been very cooperative and have updated or will update.
Freewallet has not been responsive.
Altex.exchange has not been responsive yet.

The new wallet consumes the same amount of resources as the previous version.  The time to sync the last 30 days would have been exactly the same as if you used the older client.  Light wallet is planned but there is no ETA at the moment.

Who the fack you are, impostors?

XDN dev was the one and only - dNote.
He is gone about 18 months ago.

We definitely will NOT update our software and will contact exchanges to do the same.

Hi, please read the original thread as we have already addressed this months ago with the transitional statement and we do not wish to argue.

I understand that you are no longer a fan of XDN and (most likely) sold your coins months ago, but that was your own personal decision and not our responsibility.  Frankly we aren't interested in bitcointalk trolls or rude unproductive comments.  We are the official DigitalNote team as no other XDN team is in existence. The old dev ran away 18 months ago after pulling some sort of weird "ICCO" scheme.  XDN would have died already if it weren't for us (are you aware of the recent ASIC hash attacks and timestamp attacks?). Did you know that the old seed nodes have been down for months as well?  Coinmarketcap.com lists the official website as digitalnote.biz (digitalnote.org has been offline for over a month) and the major exchanges are ready to upgrade their official XDN wallets. This isn't a hostile takeover but a group of OG users and devs, many of whom have been around since the conception of ducknote, saving the project with the best interest of users and the future of the protocol in mind.  XDN has always been open source and a community project.  XDN has had hard forks in the past as updates just like this one--it's really not a big deal.

Only someone who would wish for the coin to die would disagree that it needs to be upgraded and developed (but I know that you don't actually care and just want to cause problems).  If the community didn't step up the coin would have died as soon as the old website disappeared and wallets went down on Bittrex, Upbit and HitBTC last month due to ASIC attacks (which we fixed by communicating with the exchanges).  It literally would have been over already and a lot of people would have lost a lot of money.  Please do not continue to troll the hard work of devs or we will be forced to moderate the thread, thank you.

It is better you ignore trolls and naysayers and rather concentrate on building and improving this product. It's an open source project and this currency would have died long ago had it not been for the new team.

Well the coin has been "ASIC resistant" ever since it was created, I'm not sure how you can really blame devs for sticking to the original promise of the coin.  With or without a PoW update there would have been people who disagree--so you can't win with everyone.  It is very common practice for Cryptonotes to update their PoW to stay away from ASICs and we can keep doing this if we need to (pr if the community wants to keep doing so).  Keep in mind that this update does not just change the PoW...it also modifies the difficulty adjustment algorithm to Zawy's LWMA-2 so that those with extremely high hashrates can no longer perform hash attacks or timestamp attacks.  That's a pretty big deal and upgrade to the network.  It wasn't just about the PoW but the manipulation of the coin.

Is there a list of exchanges that were contacted and are supporting this fork?

Freewallet has not been responsive.

this new wallet consumes even more resource than previous and i needed 5h to sync 30 days behind
when will you launch a light wallet?

The new wallet consumes the same amount of resources as the previous version.  The time to sync the last 30 days would have been exactly the same as if you used the older client.  Light wallet is planned but there is no ETA at the moment.

Freewallet is currently reviewing the code. The same goes for the possibility of support of the new fork. We'll update users on our decision in our official news releases.
