DigitalNote [XDN]
DigitalNote is the original anonymous, decentralized cryptocurrency with untraceable encrypted messages & blockchain staking rewards. No censorship & true privacy.
If you have not kept up with DigitalNote, please first read our DigitalNote Official Transitional Statement:
https://medium.com/digitalnotexdn/digitalnote-official-transitional-statement-17828bb551c5 (aka DigitalNote is under active development by veteran community members and skilled developers after the seeming disappearance of the old dev).
[MANDATORY UPGRADE] DigitalNote v6.0.1 Release & DigitalNote GUI 1.0.16b Released:DETAILS: There was a bug in the original XDN code that caused the block reward at height 704,000 to increase back to 320,000XDN per block. This update fixes that via a hardfork at height 704,614 and also applies a small fix to our difficulty adjustment algo (LWMA2). This is a MANDATORY upgrade, please upgrade immediately!
The bug became apparent today and has been around ever since XDN's conception. The old Minergate chain will suffer the same problem without anyone to fix it. Essentially the block reward was being bit shifted and at block 704,000 when the height was divided by 11,000 (halving interval) the reward was shifted by 64 bits, bringing it to 320,000 XDN. If left as is the remaining amount of XDN would be mined within 7.2 days. If there were more supply then the supply would half again to 160,000 XDN, then 80,000XDN, etc etc just like in the beginning of the coin's history. This was the result of the specific method used by the original dev to formulate the block reward (bitshifting) which overlooked future issues. You can examine the tech details for yourself in the old version of currency.cpp in the baseRewardFunction (

https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/469469144329224203/480764390056919040/unknown.png and another photo showing that it is basically a recycle of the initial distribution of the coin

We would love to invite more coders to the development side so we can make this a priority and secure the code in case of future issues. This patch will fix the issue and cause a fork upgrade at height 704,614.
[MANDATORY UPGRADE] DigitalNote v5.0.2 Release & DigitalNote GUI 1.0.15c-beta ReleasedIt is very important that all users are on version 5.0.2+ (CLI) or v1.0.15+ (GUI) to remain on the upgraded blockchain. If you do not upgrade your wallet then you are on the OLD CHAIN and your coins are not available to trade on any exchanges as the old chain is not supported by them. The new software is released and all users must upgrade, all relevant download links and info here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4451957.msg40486343#msg40486343Release Notes:- Proof-of-work change to CryptoNightV1 (variant 1 also known as "monero7") to remain ASIC resistant
- Difficulty adjustment algorithm has been updated to Zawy's LWMA-2 to resist hash and timestamp attacks
- Seed nodes updated to be operational (no more unresponsive seeds from old dev)
- Block target reduced to 2 minutes
- Difficulty is hard-coded to “reset” back to GPU levels for blocks immediately following the fork so that the network continues to work as intended and does not stall
- GUI embedded pool miner now works
- Latest checkpoints and small Payment Gate bug fix
- Arch Linux compile fixesCURRENT UPDATES:We will have more information soon, including future plans and other developments (bear with us, we first had to provide these major updates to secure the protocol for users ASAP). We are still working with HitBTC and Minergate to get them to update but as of now they are still playing games with us. We are applying to get listed on many new exchanges but for now you must use Bittrex, altex or upbit.
We are also happy to announce that we are again MERGE-MINABLE with XMR! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4451957.msg42508150#msg42508150)[WALLET UPGRADE] DigitalNote 5.0.3 Release & DigitalNote GUI 1.0.15d-beta Released (not mandatory)New GUI wallet release v1.0.15d. This update is not mandatory but the release fixes the embedded GUI CPU miner (for reals this time), adds 'default pools' functionality and includes a checkpoint to help sync the blockchain. Uses new v5.0.3 of the CLI.
https://github.com/DigitalNoteXDN/digitalnotewallet/releaseshttps://github.com/DigitalNoteXDN/digitalnote/releasesGENERAL INFORMATION:DigitalNote is a cryptocurrency forked from the original CryptoNote cryptocurrency, Bytecoin, in May of 2014. If you are familiar with Monero you may know that it is also forked from Bytecoin and was created just two months previously to DigitalNote. XDN provides the same anonymous and untraceable transactions of the base protocol, but builds upon it further to add two important features that define DigitalNote as we know it today today: encrypted messages and blockchain deposits.
DigitalNote will never have an ICO of any sort in the future. No airdrops or premine.Official LinksGithub: https://github.com/digitalnotexdnWebsite: https://www.digitalnote.biz/ (redesign in the works)

Enjoy the many
DISTRIBUTED pools of XDN. If you are interested in creating your own pool we recommend this open source pool code:
https://github.com/dvandal/cryptonote-nodejs-pool/ (Pool operators need to modify their config.json variable “cnVariant” from 0 to 1 after the block height 669,369).
https://digitalnote.fairhash.org/http://xdn.superpools.online/https://xmr.minercountry.com/ (the only pool available that offers XMR merged-mining!)
https://easyhash.pro/xdn/http://xdn.ecoinshub.nethttp://asiapool.io/Do not use MinerGate as they are still on the old fork! I repeat, you will not get the right coins if you mine with them and they will not be able to be sold on any exchanges!
Message us if you have a pool that's not on the list.
Mining SoftwareUntil the fork you may use any cryptonight miner. After the fork any cryptonightv1/monero7/cryptonight_v7 miner will do. We recommend XMR-STAK-WIN64 (
https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/releases). Configure your pool.txt “currency” to “cryptonight_v7” after the fork.

Encrypted MessagingThe official DigitalNote client not only allows you to send and receive XDN as a currency, but also provides an encrypted protocol for secure messaging between users. This means that you can send messages to anyone else on the network and your message is secure and untraceable. In the age of corrupt governments and corporations, we believe that this feature is extremely important for the world and the crypto ecosystem as a whole. A group like WikiLeaks would benefit greatly by a system such as this, for example, but the possibilities are endless. The protocol also contains a feature to allow for message "self-destruction" after a certain amount of blocks (user-defined) and a feature to enable return replies, or not. Currently each message costs a base rate of .01 XDN but the fee increases with the amount of data sent. This will likely be decreased in the future as XDN continues to rise in value.
Blockchain StakingMany of us know that Proof of Stake is going to become a very important feature for many cryptocurrencies, especially in 2018. Ethereum is eventually moving that way and there are other coins like BitBeans and Peercoin that have already achieved this. DigitalNote, on the other hand, offers a unique type of blockchain staking rewards. This differs slightly from Proof-of-Stake in the sense that these locked blockchain stakes don't secure the network (yet), but allow users to grow their coins at an reward rate of 0.4% to 1.094% depending on the amount of time they are locked up. The longer you lock up your coins in a stake, the more rewards you will gain (up to a maximum of 1.094%). When your coins are locked into a blockchain stake, they are safely deposited on the distributed network until the amount of time expires as specified by your staking. There is talk about making the stakes act as a sort of Proof-of-Stake but it is not our main priority.
