I want to buy a contract giving me the right to buy your GPU's (Basement Heaters) come spring/summertime when it is no longer feasible to run them.
I would pay a premium now for the right to buy the GPU's at a predetermined price come the warmer weather.
I can't see this working out well for me so post your ideas here.

It would only be humor if I wasn't serious There are a lot of miners here in the US and abroad who are mining in their garage/basement/apartment/etc. who can only mine because of cold weather. If you look at the historical GPU trends there is a downturn in price coming as FPGA/ASIC scrypt miners hit the market. Around spring/summer time people will have all of these GPU's which they can't run because of heat issues and cooling costs and the market price will have tanked for the cards. Again historically there should be some new card release coming soon after that so those who are stuck with cards would be left with even less value. It'll be ~ a year before the next GPU spike. I'm thinking of paying a small fee to reserve the cards for summer at less than current prices and more than future prices in exchange for the right to buy the cards come the warmer months. This is capital up front for miners and could ensure they achieve ROI on current rigs by locking in a future sales price.

Brilliant! Well played. Makes perfect sense too. I've been arguing that prices will indeed drop on gpus simply because of the hype in it all and new entries who don't have what it takes to do this. Now factor in global warming YEEEHHAAAAWWW lol
edit: of course the logic is only sound as long as the hype dies off... which is entirely possible to some extent as some of the nonhackers and heat averse/upgraders factor in

I fully support global warming. The earth could use a good cleansing of the species at this point.

Why all the hate on 7950's??
Hundreds of GPU's over three years mining. I've never had more failures, heat issues, dead cards, etc. than I've had with 7950s.. I've also never had a 7950 work right. I'll run a dozen 290x in 8U rackspace with no issue. Stick one Effing 7950 in there and all of the sudden it all crashes and burns. Salty how much for the silver bullets? Worst card ever created.

You are the first person I have ever heard of that has issues with 7950's lol. It is hands down the easiest Scrypt card to configure and hash stable (until the 280X came out). Anyways good luck I am curious what offers you get on this.

This will not work for Brits for 2 reasons: we don't do summer, and most of us fully intend to market scamcoins through the middle months while you lot swelter.
I may be the one exception, as I'm hairy, start sweating at 50deg. and can't be arsed with amassing my fortune by running around after clitcoins.
I've got a 7970 for your consideration as well as an MSI 280X Twin-Frozr coming in the post.
[Perhaps you could complicate your proposal by selling us back our gpus as the weather turns back under 50deg.]
How might it work?

I would pay a rental fee for the card over the warm months. The card would be returned come fall/winter. That's a long contract though for very little equipment. Maybe if you had 12-18 280s it would be worth it.
