Crypto revival instead of ICO

What crypto if any do you think deserves and needs new life that a team could bring into it. Are there many out there, with an active community of users/holders but without the core team anymore. How would you propose funding development if the main team are gone?

well, the point of crypto is that it's open? anyone can basically copy any other code and continue, with or without a team in place. (I mean, why would people hold something without a team?)

but to fund it is another question, if it's community driven (initially atleast), it could be enough to move the price up and in that way it could then be used to fund continued development from a smaller team (the best of the community)?

I was thinking in particular of communities where all the developers have left.

If someone is capable of creating something valuable - why would they try to revive an old coin/token, which could have been a scam or have other negative baggage, and is likely to get dumped by old bagholders if it gains any value. Sounds easier to start from scratch.

There was this discussion with Paycoin (XPY) back in the day and no one could give any good reason, yet there was an attempt to resuscitate it. A year later it predictably failed.

Well, I was thinking it already had a community so would have the interest and ideally use case there.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but since coins are fixed they will have to pump money into the new coins. So wouldn't that be like buying worthless coins at a much higher price? The people trying to revive the coin will be at a disadvantage, while those who were already holding are the only ones benefiting.

They would have to fork, not simply take over. Also, the community would need to be "transferred" to new telegram, twitter, web, facebook, ... accounts. Not an easy task.

I was just looking at the crytpo graveyard and well there's too many to choose from. Especially the ex-ICO projects, now dead, were really scams in the first place.

My advice would be to start a new coin (sigh) that has real life adoption in its timetable.....
